play in sidestand

Hi All

New to these bikes ... I've read the sidestands have a bit of play in them but my bike seems excessive! Can anyone confirm this needs a rebush? Is it possible to shim them?

Age and mileage?

My is 2012 done about 11,000 and has around an 1" of play at the end.

hmm thanks. It's an '09 with 32k...

I replaced the side stand bushings in mine a few years back, it made hardly any difference.

Airhead valve guides make good replacement bushes!

Shim washers to pack the space between form and mounting will reduce slack better than the central bush.

If you need a height extension the machined poly type are light and don't increase vibration forces like a solid rubber hockey puck. If it becomes a bit stiff moving, you might need an extended cap screw to catch with your boot sole.

(some Japanese bikes have a ball ended peg to do the same job)
