Just bought a second hand RT...Lovely, And to my surpise I have found an Autocom under the seat all wired in...Bonus.:thumb

trouble is I get what they are for etc...I just don't have a cue how it works.

What do I need to listen to my iphone and take calls on it....

Well aware this has probably been posted to death, but I have never used/seen one. and just need a few pointers.

thanks for the help if you can give it.....This is where the tossers come into there own.:jager

depends

on what kit you've got & what phone you have. Unless the autocom has a bluetooth dongle you will need a lead to connect the two together. The leads are specific to your brand/model. Have a look at this motorbike adventures website. It might give you a few pointers and I think its run by someone from this site.

Cheers it looks like the active 7 smart.

I only have the box hard wired in.

My phone is an Iphone 4:thumb2:thumb2

Hi There,

If its an active 7 then you can get yourself the following kit to get it all working, assuming it all works and they never left it on the bike coz it was faulty.

I have included a link to the bluetooth dongle that can wireless connect to your iphone. It forces your Iphone to answer after 3 rings. Hope this helps!

Surely an Active 7 Smart takes a 32 ohm headset

HTH,

John

I have no idea how mine works but I don't think I matched headsets... unless it was a fluke. What would happen if one was using the wrong headset? What would hte signs be? Just curious!

Oh feck....confused...I think I have a 5 pin and a 7 pin connector on it already, and do I really need the Blutooth.....do I need an aux to aux cable to hook up anything??

Confuzzled...?? duhhhhhhhhhh

I hook everything up without blue tooth... but I don't use my phone on the bike. I'll take a photo ina bit and post it up here for you to see.

I would

go the bluetooth route if possible but get one of the newer dongles if you can 'cos the older ones have a habit of dropping the connection just at the most inconvenient moment. If you don't get the bluetooth dongle you will need a cable to connect whatever device you use i.e. phone/mp3 player to the autocom. You can only connect one bluetooth device to the autocom at one time. So if you wanted for example GPS & phone you would need something like a Zumo (it has 2 bluetooth receivers) then you can connect the Zumo to the autocom and the phone to the Zumo. You can connect up to 4 devices via cables depending on how many aux inputs you have. Clear as mud eh?

You have two Autocom dealers in York, Infinity and Barrie Robson. It might be easier to take the bike there & let them show you face-to-face what all the DIN connectors and stereo inputs do. They will then ask you what gadgets e.g. phone, satnav, bike-to-bike etc.. you have at the moment and what you might wish to add in the future. They should then sell you the correct combination of leads and adaptors.

I know it doesn't answer your question directly but..... HTH

If you get stuck Sam at Chainspeed knows s*** loads about Autocom, he also carries most spares.

Your right, I might nip into Infinity in the morning and sort it out.

Thanks for all the advice chaps.
