I was about to upload some photo's from my phone onto a HP laptop and in all my excitement i tried to put the phone end of the cable into my usb port
I didn't even get to try to push it into the port, just touched the usb port with the wrong end of the cable and my laptop just went off
Not a flicker anywhere except the power light next to where the power cable plugs into the laptop and that goes out if I unplug the powerlead.
Nothing was attached to the other end of the cable.

What have I done

Try removing the battery from the laptop and inserting it again in order to reset the laptop completely. Usually that works when a laptop is not responding.
