At the last 24,000 service on my 1100RT, I was charged a modest additonal amount to change the poly-V belt because the tank had to be moved anyway to change the fuel filter. An inspection is part of the service so one may as well replace it.
I have seen a few belts go a bit scabby before 36... no harm changing it at 24... gotta get it written in your service book though ... if you sell it ... the next owner will presume it got changed at 36 ... no way it will last form 24 - 72 if you know what I mean...
