Poly V Belt - how much

Don't know about fitting (did it myself) but in May last year, SPC charged £8.34 + VAT for the belt.

(Steptoe will probably charge 3/6d :D )

Fitting isn't a big deal (but probably an hour of you dealer's standard rate  ).

If your stuck for a belt ,Try your local car spares shop -

ask for a 4 ribbed 610mm belt .

BMW belt is unusual size, 611mm , but 610mm is common size, and will fit .

About £3 !!!!!

;) ;)

Thanks for the replies everyone. I would fit one myself but the bike is getting a 24000 mile service done and I thought I'd ask the dealer to fit the belt at the same time. That's handy to know Steptoe, cheers :)

Definitely a good idea to replace at 24k - supposed to be replaced at 36k but a number (including my previous 1150) have snapped before 36k.

At the last 24,000 service on my 1100RT, I was charged a modest additonal amount to change the poly-V belt because the tank had to be moved anyway to change the fuel filter. An inspection is part of the service so one may as well replace it.

I have seen a few belts go a bit scabby before 36... no harm changing it at 24... gotta get it written in your service book though ... if you sell it ... the next owner will presume it got changed at 36 ... no way it will last form 24 - 72 if you know what I mean...
