When I was there a couple of weeks ago, there was a strict queuing system and the chap in front of me got the very last pint of draft "real" ale! :tears Still, the Tennents' lager was well kept and pretty good.

Packing the GS today and heading up via Cairn o Mount on Friday. That's a road I've not ridden for donkeys years!

I'm very disappointed in you Pete!

It's "donkey's years".

Really, Pete you must try harder.

Sat here already to go, it's lashing down. Forecast to improve about 10.30. I'm staying at Kinross tonight so no great rush.

Or donkeys'? Or just donks? Anyway, I've not been there for ages! :D Looking forward to a couple of beers and a few laughs though! :thumb2

A9 yesterday. My satnav backing plate connecter decided to shear off. It fell to the right side of the bike swinging on it's lead. Pulled over into a lay-by to recover satnav, thankfully it didn't go bouncing down the road.
Anyhow, I had a drink and disposed of my water bottle in a kindly supplied bin at the front end of the lay-by.
Then spotted this on the cycle track....One of Taminators regular routes?:D

Gents, just thinking about over-all numbers / weather conditions and the space available in the harbour pubs being limited - both in the Station and the Shore Inn should a number of us seek to go for a drink at the same time.

There is a bowling club in Portsoy which has a larger bar and a function suite / hall type area which may serve our purposes if a large number of us fancy a libation inside somewhere.

Please let me know the collective thought on this potential and I can get in touch with my contact and see if we can impose on them during the weekend.

May as well ask if you can so we at least know our options

Other than Covid considerations, I can't see why they would refuse? Worth a try ...

Just thought I would give you all the heads up that the Tour of Britain cycle race will be in Aberdeenshire on Sunday 12 September ONLY.
It won't be going anywhere near Portsoy, but if you plan to head home on Sunday via Aberdeen (A944), Deeside (A93 & B976) and/or over Cairn o' Mount (B974 & B967) there will be road closures most of the day.
The full route and road closures can be found here https://www.tourofbritain.co.uk/spectacular-route-unveiled-for-2021-tour-of-britain/

As a local I think the best route for those heading south from Portsoy is:
- Take the B9022 south and then pick up the A95 heading west
- At Ballindalloch turn left onto the A9008 to Tomintoul and from there left again onto the A939 over the Lecht (watch out for deceptive bends and blind summits)
- At Corgarff turn right staying on the A939 and then once over the Gairnsheil Bridge (you'll know it when you get there) take the B976 right to meet the A93 at Balmoral.
- Turn right onto the A93 and then it's a fantastic ride through Braemar (fuel here and great coffee & cake / bike stop at The Bothy on the right in the village) missing the cycle route section...then through Glenshee, Blairgowrie and pick up the A9 at Perth

Hope this helps.

Well I'm parked up in the camper near to Biggar at a site recommended by Micky.
