positive vibes please

2009 SE - 41k miles so far

Leaky rear suspension means I'll be picking up WESA in Jan 2012

Regard it as more of an opportunity than problem - easier sell to swmbo

Great bike - daily commuting into the metropolis + 5 European trips to date

Planning next year's tours over Christmas downtime

Can't imagine my life without it

Ive had 5, tried to leave (reverse BMW snobbery!!) Had FJR and a Tiger did miles on them, soul less, tested new Tiger and Yamahaha Adventure thingy, even tried an 1150, agricultural! came back to a Twin Cam, 2,500 miles in just under 3months and loving it to bits.

Ride and enjoy, done over 60K on them all told and love em!!!

Nothing but good vibes for the 1200s I've owned, twin cam best of all. :bow

I think a lot of 1150 owners uses alias's to post crap in the 1200 section . . Remember their favourite steed was replaced after just 4 years leaving many with outdated bikes still under warranty . . leaving them bitter & twisted. :hide

I generally do ignore this section as I don't consider a rusty fastner to be the end of the world, and I can work out how to fix a tax disc! :thumb

But there is some great stuff to be found on here by some top people regarding real issues & real workarounds.

who cares if its an R800,R100,R1100,R1150,R1200 when you owned a good one and you haven't got it any more you would snap someone's arm off for another.

well i would anyway:thumb

merry xmas all whatever you ride:beerjug::D

The latest 1200 twincam is so good it converted me from sportsbikes, had it for 8 weeks and love it. Cant keep off it, rain, snow and mud. So far a great experience as far as reliability is concerned i have had no problems, which is better than my 2009 blade managed :D

Had my 1200 just under 2 years. 20k fantastic miles 75% 2 up with full luggage + tents etc. Best bike I've ever had by a very long shot! GET ONE:beerjug:

Did 160 miles on mine today over to Lincolnshire and back - the twin cam motor is just so good and I am still running it in :D

I used to have a new bike every year, or even more often.
I took delivery of my 1200GS in late 2004 and 60k+ miles later, it's still my only bike.
I can't think of anything to replace it with except maybe a new one, but I've got mine how I want her and would have to start all over again.

Same as, well nearly it was 2005 and mines only done paltry 53k, and now I come to think about it I have another bike in the garage but it is mainly intended for for getting muddy with. Other than using a hideous quantity of headlight bulbs (3) its been a real good un,:thumb2

I sometimes consider a newer one, but the bike and me, well we got history now and its all good.

You'll probably find that most people, just like me, don't even know they're in the 1200 section.

I use the 'latest posts' button to read stuff.......so until you said that, I genuinely didnt know this was in that particular section.

Browsing like that, you end up making comments in a lot of areas that you may nor otherwise go in....the fact that a lot of the comments in the 1200 section are as they are is more of a result of what a significant minority of the posts are like, not about those who make them :thumb2

Personally, I don't give a flying toss what people ride, but their attitudes and whether they 'get it' or not is far far more important ;)

Those 1200 riders who do 'get it' are as offended about the comments they receive as the airhead owners who 'get it' are about the fact that they are accused of smelling of wee......it all depends how you take it I guess :nenau

Some of the best guys on the site ride 1200s, but also, a LOT of the worst ones do too ;)

I love everyone though :kissy2

Except the French

And the Welsh :blast

OOhh smelling of wee is always going to get you bullied :tears :tears

Had R100Gs PD purple insanity paint, Yellow R1150GS , Blue and White R1150GS, R1200Gs Adv twin cam one.

Problems yes .:augie

Do I care.

No not a bit.
Loved them all. Always wanted the twin pot tractor. Have ridden or tested most all types of bike and will be staying with me Beemers.
Dont let the naysayers put you off.:bounce1:roll:bounce1

Now with daughters partners and granddaughter over for Christmas I am plotting some ride outs to retain me sanity:pullface

Had my GSA 1200 since Aug, love it to bits. Forums always give a false impression about reliability of bikes (and cars and everything else I guess) as people usually only post when they experience a problem.

Dont get many 'went out for a ride today and everything worked beautifully' posts on forums.:beerjug:

Been riding bikes since I was 17 now just about to get my bus pass.

I have had numerous bikes, the majority were cheap commuter bikes, big and small. All had their moments and breakdowns/problems all have had days when it made you feel alive.

But my 1200 bought new in 2006 and with 40K on the clock is the best I have had when it comes to sheer pleasure.

It is without doubt a grin maker and I love it.:rob
