Possible BT Mail phishing scam

I’ve just had an email from BT ‘New Team’, with the heading ‘B.T Notice’, there’s a full stop after the B but not after the T, and at the bottom it is signed with b.tcomms

I’ve had a Google for BT Phishing emails, or something like that, but nothing quite fits the bill, but I’m about to go away for a while and don’t want to be stranded without emails, (not all bad of course.)

I think it is complete bollocks. Do you agree?

If the doubt is ever there, the likelihood it is a scam.

And the malware would be beyond emails and may attack all accounts you have on your PC/phone, locking your systems down, changing passwords, contacting your phone book of contacts and so on.

Treat any communication as someone at your front door claiming to be the company. What checks would you do?

FYI if you hover over the link (on a PC) it'll show the web address of it without even clicking.

Ah, yes of course! Feckity feck!

EDIT: mine was signed b. tcomms, just a bit less likely than b. t comms I thought.

another good tip as well as the one given by BT to log into your account using the actual website address. is to use a password manager. Should you inadvertently click on a dodgy phishing link then the Password Manager will not recognise this website and will not offer your user name and password. This should hopefully prod your braincells into illuminating light bulbs spelling SCAM.
