Hi, looking for a few pointers in what to look for when viewing a 2010 r1200 adventure tc 30,000 miles doesn't have esa has full service history but the advert doesn't say weather it's BMW.
Looks well looked after in the photos. What sort of mileage should a clutch last ! I know it's a bit like asking how longs a piece of string.
Thanks ,
Ian.

My piece of string is now at 120.000 miles, I'm hoping it will last much longer still.
I've also still got the original starter motor, servo abs unit too,
only the second set of front discs. Had the third rear fitted just last year.
Calipers have never been rebuilt. Except for making sure they are clean and the rear calipers sliders are well lubed and move freely.
Everything is of course subject to what kind of use the bike has had. If it looks clean and had little winter use if should last well.

My 2010 first clutch needed replaced quite early as I was riding it like a wet clutch but hot BMW to do it under warranty, second set of plates were changed at about 30,000 because they got contaminated with oil when a seal went on the gear box, again done under warranty.
It's now on 107,000 and I'm starting to notice a bit of slippage under hard acceleration so thinking it'll be split the bike time this winter and get the frame blasted and coated while it's off.
P. S. Anyone know where I could send my wheels to get dismantled painted and rebuilt?

Thinking about it again. At that mileage and age, I think I'd be more worried about the suspension and the final drive than the clutch , both could be expensive though both can be rebuilt if needed.

My 2010 GSA has just over 59000 miles. Still On the original clutch (very little urban riding) and suspension. Best bike I ever owned (and I had a R1100GS for several years)

Great to hear about the 100,000 mile plus examples:okay

My oft London ridden bike lasted around 60k before it was down to the rivets.

My early TC Jan 2010 had a new alternator at around 26K miles. Also the clutch slave was sticking can make it feel like a slipping clutch but luckily a kind sir of this forum pointed me in the correct direction. These K25's seemingly have had a few of these slaves fail in this way. I bought a new one from BMW and its been fine since.

I had a 2011 TC and it had an issue at like 7K where the starter switch failed, there was water in the handlebar switch. This was replaced under warranty but i thought it was the starter. I recall having it out with BMW as they were telling me it was down to water after i washed it, i i was like its an adventure bike but you cant wash it. Crazy but that was what they said.

Lots of complaints with regards paint finish on various parts, ive always found that using the likes of ACF50 or XCP a couple of times a year along with a wash down in winter months helps and mine still look the same as the day i got them and ive had three twin cams.

Pretty good reliable machines as many already stated well over 100k with little issues.
