Due to work commitments, a ?knackered hall sensor and the loan of a mate's 1200 it's been 3 months since I last started my 1150GS. Never having intended such a long layup I didn't drain the tank or anything.

I've now got a little window to sort out a new hall sensor and arrange a time to get it fitted (PM may be coming your way in the next couple of weeks Steptoe!) but obviously I need to start the bike to get it moved. I'll bung it on charge for a day beforehand and check the tyre pressures but is there anything else I should be aware of before hitting the starter to avoid tears and big bills?

If it's anything complicated please put it in very simple terms. Much appreciated in advance.

Nothing to worry about - Just turn it over a couple times to get some oil circulated before you fire it up .

A tip for laying up, take the plugs out and squirt 20 ml or so or redex in the cyls and turn over without the plugs in by turning the rear wheel in 6th gear then put the plugs back and leave it over winter, when you fire it up the cyls are already lubed, it'll smoke for a bit when you bring it out of hibernation.

Indeed I have - well until the end of November anyway. Will still be doing the odd bike shift on OT though - I need the money!
