NOH = never been to a customer

Garmin and a retailer told me NOH means the unit has sat in the store only, and gone back to Garmin to have a software update. It has never been to a customer.

This is different from a refurb unit.

I'm interested to know from you guys who have had noh or refurb units, was the screen totally unmarked?

thanks,
steve

ps. I personally believe there are only 2 states, New and refurb. I'm sceptical abount this inbetween status, however I'm passing on the info I was given.

You are being told tosh. NOH means newly overhauled. Read this on garmin website: https://support.garmin.com/support/...caseId={967482f0-f1f2-11dc-7b6e-000000000000}

When your garmin breaks and you send it away they dont repair your unit and return it to you. You get sent an NOH one and yours goes in a pile to be overhauled at some point. Garmin sell some of these through retail channels. Some retailers are honest others arent.

I have ordered one of these NOH units and during the convo the retailer firmly stated they have 19 NOH units, which have never been to a customer. The retailer said they have bought them from another retailer as unsold. The retailer said the units have been back to Garmin for software updates.

I have asked Garmin about this practice and they confirmed it does happen, and Garmin also confirmed they deal with the retailer in question.

I am a quality inspector by day in the world of automotive plastics and I will give my new toy a fine going over when it arrives.:clap

Garmin fit new plastic housings too...so not a chance of spotting if it is refurbed.

Thought this was a PRICE thread :augie

It was -when it started (when the 660 was new), but the price has ceased to be so relevant now (or - no more relevant than the price of an alternator belt).

MY 660 has a map update on record that pre-dates my ownership by about a year. Probably the NuMaps guarantee that the previous owner applied after purchase. Am I bothered about this? No, I went for a NOH unit in the full understanding of what that meant and haven't regretted it in the slightest. As good as new, fully checked and refurbed by Garmin with 12 month warranty that has now run out. Got it for a good price at the time (£320) and have no reason to doubt that it will continue to provide good service. If it does fail then the swap out scheme for out of warranty repairs will see me exchanging it for another refurb for not a great deal of money. It's an ecological and economic way of doing things that Garmin should be applauded for :thumb2

I'm waiting for a Cardboard inspector to give his opinion of the boxes........... :augie

i have just heard that the whit boxes are brand new complete with a blue bit too.

and they haven't compromised on the materials either so its a bargain !!!:thumb

Satnaveasy / Garmin = Faulty

Hello forum inspectors.
NOH Zumo 660 arrived faulty. Connected to charger and white noise played constantly. Rang satnaveasy for returns proceedure and they recognised this fault straight away so I'm guessing they've had this before.
I will however stick to the majority of the advice on this forum and stay with a Garmin product, and I will stay with the 660 model. I will just wait until they happen to send me one that works :beerjug:

I have a question, but first ....

I pondered over the NOH dilema with SatnavEasy & phoned them before I ordered.
I was told these were new & re-boxed by Garmin so they could be discounted & not upset retailers trying to sell at RRP.
And I tend to believe this as even at £300 the profit must be huge.
Mine arrived unmarked. I took the battery out of the sealed wrapper, installed it & loaded the latest map & registered for the 2 year warranty.

I then took all the Ram mounts & various cradles & leads out of their sealed bags and installed them.

Just how many units are Garmin supposed to have overehauled? SatnavEasy alone have shifted 100s of 660s, and that's just one company in one country on one continent. And why would Garmin bother overhauling when they must cost thruppence to make?
My opinion is this (and I will not be persuaded otherwise) The white box units are brand new as is everything else in the box. But everything has clearly been transferred into a different box, hence NOH!
This means Garmin sell to the punters that just would not shell out the RRP, the shops are happy because they can tell the gullible they're second hand, and I'm happy cuz I got my new 660 for £320.

Question;

Had my 660 3 or 4 months now & last week it stopped showing my speed/speed limit. It still shows the speed camera sites.

Has a free trial period expired or have I changed the settings somehow?
I have had a quick play and had no luck, so I thought best place to start is ask a tosser! :thumb

SatnavEasy Fault Response ( zumo 660 )

Sent Faulty Garmin 660 Zumo back to Satnaveasy with a grumpy letter. Managing Director of firm rang me to apologise, and express his concern. The details of the conversation make me believe he was genuine, and the compensation mentioned tells me this is a rare occurence, as their offer to me is pretty good, and not something they would want to do everyday. So I would probably buy from them again.

Hi all,

I'm about to buy a Zumo 660 and have seen second hand units going for £300 plus but have found them for £312 brand new and these are not white boxed refurbs here at satnaveasy.co.uk....

http://www.satnaveasy.co.uk/garmin-zumo-660-bikers-offer-price-i43148.html

Is this the best deal around that I've found or can they be bought for sub £300 now :nenau

Thought I would check here before hitting the "buy it now" button :D

Jon :beerjug:

I read,

"Please Note, this item is a White Boxed Newly Overhauled Unit. The unit has a 12 month manufactuers' warranty that is covered by both Satnaveasy Ltd and Garmin UK."

For the record, I purchased a refurb Quest 2 via Garmin UK. (£80+ two or three years back after I sat my fat arse on the fold out antenna.) The first refurb came without maps. It would not receive the maps from my mapsource and Garmin UK could not help to fix so it went back and they sent another unit (which still needed updated the bastirts). It lasted for about 13 months and then would not lock satellites unless it had open sky for about half an hour. Garmin would not help to fix it as they no longer support them nor would they entertain any question of warranty. Poor show as always when you ask Garmin for help.
I bought 'a hardly used' Quest 2 unit off ebay and that works well.

Would I now fork out £££ for a Refurb Satnav? Would I fcuk.

If they fail there are not many avenues open to getting them fixed.

Just saying like.

Well in the end I managed to get a BMW Navigator IV from here for £300 so I'm very happy with that. It was just under a year old with 2912 maps etc.

All installed and working fine :thumb2
