I will have to buy the BMW Nav 6 box to clip into the mount etc.
I found the BMW one on the rental bike was good. Simple, easy to use. As i don't want my phone attached to the bike. Just don't want to risk it getting ripped off at traffic lights etc, or of worst should happen and a car pulled out or something i'd rather the phone was with me that sliding down a ravine with the bike
Is there a Garmin alternative you guys use?
I do see Nav 6 units on ebay for around £250-£300

aye, US based Cooper took over Avon decades ago and carried on with the UK HQ for all bike and classic tyres. For some historic car and bike race series they have been the only available tyre. Cooper sent car and commercial tyre production to their factory in Serbia many years ago.
Then Goodyear took over Cooper and closed the UK factory. They still make tyres for modern bikes at the Goodyear/Dunlop factory in Montlucon, France. I imagine in time they will just be rebadged Dunlop bike tyres if the brand survives. They binned the historic tyres but I believe some white knight has bought the moulds from the Avon factory with a view to set up a cottage industry for this market.
you can use a Nav 4, 5 or 6 and a Garmin Zumo 660 in the cradle. Only the 5 & 6 work with the wonder wheel. Many feel the 5 is the best unit.
there are adapter kits to move the satnav to a location above the clocks

Do a search for "Chigee" and "Carpuride"
Both clip into your Nav Prep Cradle and give you Android Auto or Apple Carplay (whether you use an Android or Apple device)
Here you go. I had engine bars on my 1200 GS's but they wouldn't fit my 1250GS so tried these instead which are a straight fit on the RS and very easy to fit compared to bolting engine bars on. If you get them be careful when you fit them as the bottom threads in the head are on an angle so it's possible to cross thread them. One advantage is that you can buy them individually if you do have a drop. BMW also do something similar too.

I've also got copies of the rear mudsling (which took a bit of fettling and needed some extra spacers on the fixing bolt to get it to fit properly and a copy the front engine cover too (The Wunderlict one) which fitted fine. I also had the Puig rear hugger on my GS (the RS one is a similar design) but took that off as the fixing mount is prone to breaking, being a single sided affair I guess so haven't put one on the RS though other versions from different manufacturers are available.

What's the deal with the red frame bikes? Was it only the white ones within a certain year?

I mean really, on paper it is quite a ridiculous idea to buy a bike in another country unseen. Then send it into storage for a year. I have about 6 mins of video and 47 images now. The bike seems genuine and services match and are valid etc. I've called the supplying dealer also.
But I'm thinking. I either take this one. Which is exactly what I want and sit on it. Or I wait. Miss this one. Then in 1 year try again to find one. And that's the what if. What are the chances of finding the exact spec, colour, and 1100mile bike again. Maybe when the 1300 appears the market will be flooded with bikes like this being traded in and I'll have made a mistake. Or maybe I'll have bought the bike i want for a decent price. Lost a little on it as its a year older. But when I arrive there it's all set and I'm good to go for the next 5+ years.
I'll be kicking myself in a years time if I finally get on it and there's loads of them up for sale and I could have waited and got one then.
Just the unknown isn't it.
Have to take the chance when its there and weigh up the situation with logic and no emotion.

How can you buy and or ride a bike with no emotion?
How can you buy a bike unseen? If it is new, I can understand it to a degree, but if it is used, then there all kinds of things that could go wrong financially.
Kick yourself all you like, no one else will care, only you.
Time is a manufactured constraint that others put upon us, why would you put it upon yourself?
Your search for perfection will only ever end in disappointment.
So you are moving to Spain, be prepared for much time and no constraints, no one gives a fuck, only you.
