Power socket advice

Bit thick when it comes to lectrics etc
Going camping in a few weeks, just bought an electric pump to blow up my mattress, as I've become to soft to sleep on the floor
Said pump comes with cigar lighter type plug which obviously doesn't fit the BMW plug ( which to my knowledge nothing does)
So my question is, do i have to have a cigar type socket fitted to the bike, or do i have to fit a BMW plug to the electric pump I have purchased?

The power socket trips out if using anything above 5 amps (such as an air pump).

Fit crocodile clips with an inline fuse to the pump leads and run it directly off the battery whenever you (rarely) need to use it.

Fit a second DIN type socket to your bike (the same you have already) but wire it to the battery directly, through a 15 amp fuse and using 17 amp co-ax wire.

Get a DIN to cigarette type adapter.

Plug it in, job done.

PS the din type (as fitted to your bike) is far more secure and reliable than the round barrelled ciggy lighter type.......the positive tip is actually HELD in place by the spring terminals, but on the ciggy socket version, the plug is actively PUSHED away from the contact point by the spring in the plug..

The alternative is to fit a Durite 0-601-36 din plug to your pump.......you can use that in a cigarette socket in a car or take the red cap off and use it on the bike DIN socket

The BMW accessory socket is pretty useless in the real world, good for plugging in my BMW battery unit though.

Get a plug kit, mine cost under £20, it has an in-line fuse, it's cable tied to the frame tube down towards my left leg, found it tricky to find a place on the headstock were it didn't touch on anything, pointed downwards in case any water gets in although it is sealed and it's wired direct to the battery, it's live even when the ignition is off, can charge phone, Sat Nav etc in a "safe spot" while at a rally or run the cable up my small tankbag were I put my phone with it's GPS on - I know it's a poor man's solution but it works for me on the rare times I need Sat Nav to get me from A to B.

BMW supply a converter lead just for this purpose. Plugs in with a normal car socket on the other end. Works fine with my electric pump.
