Just got the new bike and wondered what I could use the power socket for? I guess many folks use it to power GPS units, heated jackets etc but wondered what other uses it can be put too.

Could I use it to power a small pump for blowing up airbeds, tyres etc?

I guess the cig lighter adaptor should be on my shopping list?

cheers

GPS, heated waistcoats etc. Yosi posted a brilliant link HERE recently, which gives you a shedful of useful stuff.

Don't forget you can also use your plug to top up the battery, and not just draw power out. ;)

Do you require a special charger to top up the battery?

Great link by the way. I can just see myself riding down the road with the 12v popcorn maker spilling popcorn along the road :D

Yes! I use it for a small electric pump to pump up my tyres when I get a punture.

No! But you would be better off getting one of the plug in and forget type, such as 'CSI/Airflow' or 'Optimate'

Auxilliary Socket

If you have a 1200 GS and charge the bike up by this means whilst using a normal charger, it will discharge the battery. To use the power/auxilliary socket for charging you have to purchase the BMW special charger.
