...and if you get an additional one fitted, there's a prepared spot for it at the top of the left-hand-side of the beak-fairing, below the handlebar. You can feel a thickening on the underside of the plastic to reinforce the hole, when it's cut. However, as it faces up, I'd be worried about the wire emerging from it fouling on the handlebar, but there's other places it can go. Hope this helps. Cheers, Steve

Interesting...so it's possible to have two sockets on the new GS? The original at the back and one at the front? Tell me more!!! :-D

...BMW have quoted me £50 fitted for the additional 12V socket. It's also worth noting that Touratech also supplies additional sockets, either alone for fitting in various locations or in combination with a surround to the clocks in the cockpit. This positions the socket to the top left of the clocks. It's in their new 2005/2006 catalog, which has just come out - worth a read!
Cheers, Steve :beerjug:

There is actually two positions at the front, ready for sockets. SPC very generously offered to fit me two more sockets for £150. I'm musing over it.

Must admit that it will be very handy for the Navigator and the Gialli jacket to have them at the front If I cannot see that I am plugged in, I tend to wander away from the bike still connected - either end up ripping out the wires, or flat on my back.

Southport Superbikes quoted me 30 quid for the additional socket kit. They offered to fit it during the first service, didn't mention any extra charge for doing so.
