I wired my GPS power from the underseat auxilary socket but the bike keeps turning the power off, maybe the "brain" thinks the battery is a bit low or the current drain from the GPS is too high. As a temporary measure I've wired direct to the battery with an in-line fuse.

I would like to be able to remove the mount easily which I can do but I also need an easy disconnect from the power source so was considering putting an auxilary power socket at the from and plugging into that. I know I can get a second auxilary socket kit from BMW but would the brain still think it's drawing too much current? Any ideas appreciated.

I wired in an auxiliary socket (Nippy Norman.......a tenner) straight across the battery (10 amp fuse)

No "brain" probs'......Use it to charge the battery via an Optimate, or to power my Slime compressor.......Will be just fine for GPS......:thumb2

The bike powering down the aux socket is a feature of the bike it probably isn't down to your GPS. This worked with my 1200: turn on the ignition then, without waiting for the diagnostic to complete, start the engine.
