First puncture I had in years...

I found the road noise from the front unbearable.

Dormans, so just SW-ish of Reims :thumb2

And you're right...it's a beautiful area to ride around on the plentiful D roads :D

And very enjoyable it was too.:beerjug:

Until we discovered that all the eateries were shut at 1pm on a Saturday lunchtime.:blast

Back on topic, had two sets of PR4 on the GSA without issues or punctures. A revelation on tarmac in both wet and dry compared to the old type tourances that I used to swear by.

Thanks

Big thanks for all the replies , and pics . I am a dedicated Conti Attack man but have wondered about the Pr4 . I'm not worried about mileage or looks but the Conti is a great tyre but still a split use.
Cant fault it , Anakee 111 hopeless and can stand them , ill be taking a brand new set off my new bike and replacing them with proper rubber.
I rode the 1200r with Pr4s on and found it turned slow , but that may be due to the bike , wheel size etc. Again thanks for the input.

Back on topic....am on my 1st set of PR4's & IMHO, they are a excellent performing tyre in wet & dry.......and (said in a hushed tone) zero issues to date :D

Stick

If you are considering PR4s then please please have a look at the Metzler Roadtec 01

I ran the PR4s on my GSA and they were good, very good, but nowhere near as good as the metzlers i now have on the XR

Different bikes i know but i would certainly have had the metz over the PR4 had they been available at the time

I replaced the PR4 with the Conti Attack which I also had on the bike when new.
I thought the Conti was great and regretted fitting the PR4.

I've run PR3's and 4's for a number of years and never had an issue with either. Good grip wet or dry and no punctures.

However I seriously miscalculated the wear rate on a partially worn rear PR4 and the attached is the result after a 2 up trip to the Outer Hebrides earlier in the year.

Kinda embarrassing because in a former life I was involved in vehicle condition checking at the road side. Oops!

I'm more than happy with them but from what has been said on here seriously looking at the Metzelers next time round..

Thought about the new Avon trailrider (got them currently on LC GSA). Having had A3, Tourance Next, PR4's I rate them highly.

Beware of stone chippings on resurfaced roads - two punctures in the space of a few weekends earlier this year

First puncture in years, it too was from a stone chip. It was made worse as I was traveling between Orense and Lugo, and it was in a biblical thunder storm, and nearly dark. The cars on the road were taking shelter under the bridges it was that bad.

PS I have since learned that if you get struck by lighting on a bike, you more then likely will die. No problem in a car due to the Faraday cage effect.
