Just picked up the ADV from Prestige.......the ring gear and starter thrust widget had gone, and as I was near the 18k service, I had that done at the same time.
They took it apart on Friday to confirm the problem, called me as soon as they knew, ordered the bits, recieved and fitted them today and called me at 4.30 to arrange pick up......so over I rode on the free loaner R850R (grrrrr....ah well
) and was shown the parts that had been replaced...several teeth completely missing from the ring gear, and the splines on the armature where shagged.
They'd also replaced the left hand engine bar as it was cracked at the engine joint like the right hand one thatwas replaced 8k miles ago.......I didn't know about this one though.
They also (big grin) put a brand new clutch friction plate in, as mine was going to be needing replacement soon.
FOR NO CHARGE!
Total bill £164.42........
So I guess you could call me a happy bunny.......particularly when I got back on her and rode off, having spent a few hours on the DRZ bedding in the new brakes on some local-ish byways, and then hooning up to Bexleyheath on that silly toy 850R.
Haven't been able to fault Prestige yet......they've had their money off me over the years with two bikes, full Streetguard suit etc etc, but I don't mind paying sensible money for the sort of service I get from them.
