Finished my subframe this afternoon,mounted my rear mudguard,completed my RT bevel box /Paralever wheel conversion,i flipped the brake actuating arm,and made a linkage to operate the cam,not sure wether to use a cable or rod.Gusseting the frame is the next job and then blasting and spraying,i don`t` think i will powder coat as i think it will be easier to touch up a painted frame as opposed to a powder coated frame.

I use my phone camera,i will try to get a few better pics with my sons canon
If you can get it all to line up ok. Stick with a brake rod. It will be much more powerful with good feedback. Cables don't work well with the rear brake at all IMO. We have a Para (cable) and a Mono (rod) and I recon the rod on the Mono is much better.

It is actually the pedal /lever on the cable set up which has the geometry wrong- the lever is almost straight, unlike the rod lever which has a 90 degree bend.
Simple job to cut and reweld it at 90 degrees so it gets a straight pull at the cable.
There was a thread on ADV old school with pictures etc a showing exactly how to do it.

I am about to order a new Hagon rear shock,i moved the bike out into the garden today to get a feel of the ride height etc( bearing in mind there is no sag at the moment),and the basic look of the bike.I am new to airheads,can anybody see any problems with things like driveshaft angle etc,i am very open to ideas or criticisms,or praise

Are you sure you want to use a Hagon? They have a reputation for being a bit light weight / fragile here

Been a bit slow on the project lately,been sorting out my garage,installed a Bridgeport miller and sorting out my blasting cabinet,will be looking for a lathe in the near future

I have almost finished the dry build now.the frame is fully gusseted,loosely fitted side panels, headlight and handguards,just have a few brackets etc to fit to the frame then off to the blaster for prep for the sprayjob.I also have to find someone to cover my seat foam.

Got a week off so am able to spend a few uninterrupted hours on my project,i have mounted the headlight after a few hours deliberating on the correct height to satisfy the asthetics and the mot tester,i mocked up the seat using the base i made from fibre glass and seat foam from an old honda 400/4,i then gaffer taped a dummy cover to get a feel of the seat height and final shape of the foam.All the plastics are from the UFO vintage range,very well made and quite reasonable.A few more mounting brackets to be made and then off to the blaster and powder coater,i am thinking that a red frame would compliment the plastics quite nicely.

Been a bit quiet on the project lately,but i have installed my lathe,i have a few little linkages etc i need to make ,brake linkage,gear linkages etc so should start to make a bit more progress over the next month or so,i have fitted the engine and gearbox to get a feel for the lever positions etc

Now that's a proper lathe 
.I won`t be fitting it to this bike,it will be for a future twin shock project.

Finally finished my sandblaster,very effective,i am using a 16cfm compressor,and a machine mart siphon type gun using glass bead.I fancied making something for my project so came up with an adjustable gear lever similair to a Touratech item.I wanted to use the lathe and miller,and finished it off with the sandblaster.I have grafted on a folding lever end from the Touratech one on my 1200 adv.

I am getting to the stage where i have to tackle the electrics
,are there any wiring diagrams out there that are easy to follow for complete electrical beginners,ie Dummys guide to motorcycle wiring,i am not afraid to have a go,but need to have a reliable system.

Good luck with the wiring. I think it is something that I need to gain a better understanding of. I'm happy running a new length of wire but starting from scratch... I have no idea what has to go where and why.
