It was just easier to leave it in place and have decent reference point to put it back together. I've bent the removed hoop section to made the rails parallel. Tomorrow I will tack it up and extend the 2 supports that go down to the rear footrest hangers.

Will follow with interest :thumb2

Always fancied doing something like this to my R80, but haven't had the time

Think I'll wait to see the outcome before I start butchering my unmolested bike

When you look at it really the only thing you actually butcher is the rear sub frame everything else is just “removed”

That's the night done just the throttle side support to be done and that's that finished ready to be hand finished. Oh by the way I need to sort out how much kick up at the rear of the sub frame but I am going to wait until have have a rear mudgaurd so I can get the right distance from the tyre. Thinking about the seat now how to fix it to the sub frame and how to construct it I guess the best way to start is an alloy base and go from there......

Having real trouble getting tyres for this project, I am after chunky tyres with a large side wall the rim size is 2.5" and the diameter is 18" for both wheels....... I would appreciate recommendations

let me know if there are any other parts you need...

I'm looking forward to seeing this build progress!

its just the tyres and an alloy 5" or 6" rear fender at the minute, I need to get the rear sorted.

finn has donated a set of motocross bars, so thanks to him. :thumb

Ive finished the basic rear sub frame today both supports are now on, tomora its out with the grinder and file to tidy the welds up. I will put a cross brace in when the tyre and fender is on.

Thanks chaps but not much help really I really want tyres with a large side wall

Messed about this afternoon refitted the sub frame and had a closer look at the cables up front. I think I am going to invest in a full set of longer cables.

well Ive made my mind up I am getting 2 of these tyres http://www.avon-tyres.co.uk/motorcycle/safety-mileage-mkii going to put on 2 x 4.00 x 18, the ones on the right

So , handling is not important to you .
I know the look your trying to achieve , but you couldnt have opted for a
squarer tyre.
HAve a look at the Michelin Pilot , nicely rounded and wont limit your abilty
to go around corners !.....

Just my thinking on the Subject.
