I will be staying in Northampton on Saturday night while up for Moto GP weekend, can anybody recommend a good pub that does good grub in Northampton? Will be staying at the holiday Inn near the lakes on the town outskirts, walking distance would be a double bonus 🍻🍻🍻

Edit: I'm assuming that Northampton is East Midlands it wouldn't be West Midlands would it? Hopefully this is the right section

Good question about which section.
Most of the people who go on the breakfast meetings come from Lincs., Derbyshire and Leicestershire I think.
Hopefully someone will be along presently to offer you some help.

Have a great weekend at Silverstone.

You're in for a long walk to any pubs in town.

The Britannia is very close to your hotel, I've not been in 20 years so can't comment, sorry!

Also Hickory's Smokehouse a bit further that way - never been but scores 4.3 on Google.

In town I can't think of a good food pub, but Malt Shovel is definitely the best for real ale (they do pies).

Or try Albion Brewery Bar (Phipp's Brewery) and King Billy next door (rocker biker bar!) on Kingswell Street in centre (near to Malt Shovel, so a mini-crawl!)

Have a great night.

Thanks, looking at the map I realised it might be of walk into town (or cab/bus). The Britannia is pretty close by but is a chef and brewer, I don't suppose they do a decent ale but for one evening I'm sure I could manage with Guinness or a quality lager and whatever grub they serve.

The Sun Inn in Hardingstone looks reasonably close by and has good reviews so play it by ear when we are there.

Thanks for your reply 👍

I think I used to drink in The malt shovel many years ago when I had a contract at a Scottish and Newcastle who had offices in Northampton. That must have been 25 years ago if not more

Hickorys is good gear. It's a chain but nice stuff, well at least the ones around here I've tried.

C&B is part of Greene King. They usually have a guest ale as well as GK Abbot and IPA. Last time I was in one, the guest ale was Timmy Taylor Landlord which suited me. As McPubs go, they are usually okay.
