Hi Folks,
Looks like I am in a position to go and order my new 1200GS (not ADV) next weekend :bounce1 ... but as I am not a millionare (yet ;) ) I'd just like to know whether anyone has got a particularly good deal recently...

Coming from a litre sports bike, obviously I'll be getting one of the fastest yellow ones, but will also be getting: ABS, Heated Grips, Luggage and an alarm (probably Datatool Sys3 - I have that on my current bike and don't find it at all inconvenient). The bike apparently comes with clear indicators and a chrome exhaust, neither of which I'm too fussed about as indicators are indicators IMHO and the exhaust is likely to get replaced pretty soon after purchase...

What should I be looking at pricewise and is there anything there that I can realistically haggle over (other than my part ex price  ), or anything else I should ask for when ordering (e.g. is it still possible to get a 'decent' rather than 'lightweight' tool kit and a 'proper' spare key?)... Forewarned is Forearmed as they say....

Thanks in advance,
Tosser-to-be Dave. :beerjug:

Definately haggle the 600 mile running in service (labour&parts) into the deal. A lot of dealers are now charging for this. BTW - SPC @ Alton, Hamps throw it all in anyway.

Got mine in Nov 2005 from Southport superbikes...... found the sales and service people to be excellant. They gave me a good deal and have sorted a few problems out with the bike..... im sure you'd be happy there :clap

Hi Dave Come and see us at sunny Southport, Mike Roy or Peter will be more than happy to sort you order out as far as the bike is concerned . Myself, Steve or Becky will make sure that you get a second "real" key and I may even sort out a tool kit. I think that the going rate for one of these is a packet of PLAIN chocolate hob nobs :P . You may stuggle with finding a bike without white indicators and chrome exhaust but the rest of your speck is not a problem

Plain choccie hob nobs it is then :thumb LOL... was coming to SSB anyway as you are my nearest dealer and I've spoken to Mike and Peter on the phone... All things being equal I'll see you next weekend....
Thanks to everyone for your replies!! :clap

Scratching for cash

If you are a bit tight on your budget don't waste money on another exhaust system - and you will save by not needing ear plugs either!

Don't be messing about with milk chocy ones that will just get us all wound up the wrong way :D Don't give them to Pete or we will never see them.

Jim, The bike is ordered!!!!! Just been in this afternoon and spoken to Peter. Got a yellow one with luggage etc!!! Very happy with the part-ex price, overall deal and the general level of service so far. If you could see your way to a proper second key and tool kit :thumb , you'll do ok for biccies for as long as I own the bike!!!
Cheers,
Dave.

Great news. When will you take delivery?

I'm aiming for next Sunday (18th). Can't come quick enough though.... TBH if Peter manages to get one sorted and on the road for then I'll be well impressed - cos I know you don't have a yellow one in stock....(Obviously the faster bikes sell out faster too ;) ). Do you ever work weekends to take delivery of biccies, or do i trust someone to pass them on!!!???

great I will get the key ordered for you. tool kit will be waiting but will be held as a hostage unless you pay up. :P :P :P :P

:bounce1 :bounce1 :bounce1
Collect it on Sunday!!!!

Cheers to Peter for getting hold of a yellow one :clap

Cheers to Jim for keys and tools :bow

I'll bring the biccies with me on Sunday.... I'll be the guy banging on the door to try and get you to open early!!!

Jim... DISASTER!!!!!
There appears to be a worldwide shortage of plain choc hobnobs  . Asda, Sainsburys and 2 branches of Tesco didn't have any!! Could have had no choc, milk choc.... even choc/orange :barf ... but no plain choc anywhere. As an interim measure, I left a pack of plain choc digestives with Mike!!

Probably talk to you tomorrow to book it's first service!!!

Cheers,
Dave T.

Jim..... do i get a special key???? :bow
And how about a smart deal on some panniers??? :clap
But baby is coming in the next few days so maybe i should wait and see!!!!

Still going strong though :thumb
