Putting New Rubber Grips Over GS Heated Grips, Can I / Or Have You ?

Thanks, Al. It's not a massive problem, yet. Would like to put off surgery as long as possible and have heard that is not always a success.
Have a wrist splint that keeps the wrist from bending while sleeping. Just realised that I haven't had to use it since I've started to use the grip buddies!

Wrist surgery is good when the problem is at the carpal tunnel. When the problem is in the brachial plexus you need to get the shoulder posture and first rib worked on.
Forward head round and hunched shoulders often generate arm pain and hand symptoms.
Forearm cramps -radial nerve wrist surgery pointless
Numb tingling little finger - ulnar nerve wrist surgery over carpal tunnel pointless.
Median nerve (numb thumb and first two fingers) has a chance it's the wrist but part of the median nerve does not go though the carpal tunnel. There are tests to work out if the tunnel is the fundamental cause.

I had carpel tunnel surgery a couple of years ago in my right hand it worked a treat no more numb hand, now my left is starting to show familiar signs so in about 5 years that will need fixing as well

I did the same and put the surgery off for two years. I couldn't do my job which at the time was wiring control panels. Couldn't manipulate my fingers to put wires into terminals.

I had the op - both hands done at once and the relief was instantaneous- even through the local I feel the tingling stop as soon as they cut the ligament.

I wish I'd had it done two years sooner!

Apparently Carpal Tunnel release is the most commonly performed surgery. Don't know how true that is - but that's the research I did at the time.

I have also had operations on both elbows to release/transpose the ulna nerve as both outer fingers on each hand had started to lose sensation, when they did the conductivity test for that it also highlighted the carpul tunnel issue so got to know the doc quite well over the last couple of years. Another bonus was all the ops were done over the winter months.:)

I eventually bought these from ebay, easily fitted over heated grips, they've calmed down the vibes and made the grips a lot less painful due to them being a larger dia.
I'm sure grip puppies are the same.....these are cheaper though

Fitted grip puppies on mine ... they certainly have stopped the vibration in the hands but have increased the thickness. If I was honest I would have preferred a slimmer fit like that of the original grips but the numbness after a journey was more important. Overall very happy. :thumby:

I think it will all be down to a personal preference and a person's build. The standard heated grips felt like gripping a pencil. Foam grips whatever size will certainly numb the vibes

Got Dupytrons Contraction going on in my right hand and long trips have become quite painful (heated grips help a bit). Off to the Alps next week so will give these a try for what they cost.:thumb2

I put Grip Puppy's on because I think the original grips are too narrow, now they are on the ride is more comfortable on the hands, and as a bonus my throttle control is better.

What happens with the puppies when it rains? Do they get soaked?

I daily commute on the bike and while I do like the idea of fatter grips, I don't want to go up to a soaking wet handle bar. Anyone has experience with this?

Cheers,
Rami

Speaking as a person who used foam grips for many years....they are wetter than rubber when it has rained but don't hold the water like a sponge if that's your concern. I used to wipe the water off before putting gloves on.

I found it was not the vibrations that was the main problem its having to grip too tight.
I found the grip puppies dont do much for vibration BUT you dont have to hold the grip so tight made a big difference to my hand especiallthe throttle as i tended to put more pressure on that one.
Not cheap for a bit o foam but worth every penny in results.
Thinking of making some anti vibration inserts to complement them

After a favour lads - having read this thread (and added comments about my Dupytrons condition and up-coming Alps trip) I decided to buy a set of Grip Puppy's from Amazon and duly ordered them last night.

They sent me a message today advising they're not due to arrive with me before next Weds ... I leave the house early Weds for the tunnel so won't get the benefit!

Has anyone got a new set they're prepared to send me and on my return home I'll post mine on ... and I'll owe you a pint!!!

Cheers
