QD disconnects on 1100 fuel lines?

About to do the external fuel filter mod on my 98 11rt.

According to this http://www.ibmwr.org/r-tech/oilheads/external_filter_R1150RT/index.shtml, t1150rt has ad disconnects. Anyone know if / when this was applied to 1100rt?

Peter QD were only on 1150 versions

I wouldn't bother with the external FF you only do it every 24,000 miles just clean your fuel pump flange well and waxoyl the plate and the studs and it'll be easy next time

Hint spend loads of time cleaning the stud threads and get them nice and shiny if they are rusty? That's BEFORE you put a spanner near them

I know some did, probably because they used poor quality fuel line and it started cracking, but when I had my long running 'issues' with the bike, having the FF on the outside was very handy 'cos it made eliminating that as an issue so easy.....and I did have to eliminate it several times because at some points it looked like the problem was paint flakes etc

Never done either the external filter mod, or the disconnect mod, for the reasons already stated. Why bother?

I haven't done the the external filter mod on my R1100GS, but I have installed quick disconnects. The tank only comes off a couple of times a year, but it definitely makes the whole exercise much easier.

I also did the mod and still have it. As Lord Fanum correctly states - cheap fuel line will decay very quickly, don't bother with it. Only use the good stuff.

Why do the mod? Changing fuel filter takes seconds, requires just a screwdriver and you lose a thimble full of fuel. Need to drain the tank (or get some out to help a fuelless fellow biker)? a simple piece of spare fuel line with a QD on it and suddenly you can drain or pump fuel easily (also useful if you use a petrol stove when camping - why carry butane or paraffin when you have a tank full of fuel already?)

"oh but it's easily damaged" - honestly, if I bin it in such a way that damages my fuel filter two things come into play. 1) I can replace the damaged fuel filter in 2 mins with just a screwdriver 2) I won't bother doing the first thing because I will be dead and the bike will be a right off
