Hi everyone my quest 1 has started to lose its sat signal frequently, I have had the unit from new and it's worked perfectly for two years.
Any info or ideas appreciated, thanks in advance GS Ron!!!

Try Garmin helpline... i know there have been several units suffer similar problems that have been give free replacements.

If not... 2610 is a good price at the moment!!

On the bike or in a car :nenau On holiday last year the hire car had a coated screen that played havoc with the signal reception. Had to move it over to one of the side windows to get any decent sort of signal.

I had this problem recently when it seemed the flip aerial needed to be held in the up position. I contacted Garmin UK who said that, because it is a few years old and out of maintenance, they will do a full refurb for £99.

My second one did this as well...half way across bloody Mauritania

Luckily it was under warranty so it got done free...new flappy aerial and whatever the connector is to the unit.

Certainly worth trying an exterior aerial puck....pretty cheap and way better reception :thumb

Thanks for the replies on this one guy's,
I have been in touch with garmin who advised me to reset the unit back to factory settings? They have tried to e/mail me twice with the instructions on how to do this, but for some reason I am not receiving them?????

Any one know how to carry out this procedure on the quest 1?????
I have sent for the external antenna as suggested can't do any harm!!!

Thanks for the info Chris.

Before I carry out the factory reset though could any one let me know if it's possible to save the my locations data on my pc. Oh and how to do it please.
Already uploaded routes I had saved my quest.

Download it to Mapsource on your PC. Look for the "receive from device" button on the toolbar.

I had exactly the same problem after a severe storm in Germany last July. I eventually found out that by moving the aerial up and down a few times I would get sat. reception. Guessing the problem could be caused by corrosion, I gave the joint between the aerial and the unit a dose of WD40.

No problems since.

Hope this helps.

Mike
