I've had my Quest 1 for years and have used it everywhere.

Not used it much lately as I have a Nuvi 550 as well.

But wanted to use Quest today and it fails to acquire any satellites.

Tried everything to no avail.

Anybody got any idea as to what is wrong ?

also Garmin GPS can lose there "location" if not used for quite sometime and when you try to use it, it struggles to find the satellites again an this can take 30mins to do.

go into the menu and select your location and try again if still no luck then good chance it's your aerial, do a search on here theres posts on how to take them to bits

Thanks guys.

Will try and reset location first as hopefully it's that

:( It's most likely to be the ribbon cable in the hinge that's knacked...its a very common fault, has happened to both of mine.

On the upside, as Tim said, you can plug in an external gps puck/aerial, and they're about a tenner from gps world/mapilns/etc.....you do have to plug the aerial in time you take the quest out of course, but the signal is better than with the original flappy aerial.

Mine's mounted on the flat bit in the middle of my beak :thumb2

Thread HERE about them

If you're a dab hand with a soldering iron, it is possible to take the Quest to bits and repair the flappy antenna. I did this with mine, but an external antenna is MUCH better than the original anyway. :)

It's also worth doing a complete reset, by holding down the OK and Page buttons and then pressing the power button. It will ask if you want to erase all data and if you answer yes, you'll lose everything and it will think it's somewhere in America until it gets a GPS signal lock.

Thanks again for all the advice.

What would I do without you feckers.
:D
