I've just 'upgraded' from a GPS V to a Quest and there are a couple of things I'm not sure of. Firstly, how do you know when the battery is fully charged? I left it going overnight and in the morning it still had the battery charge symbol floating around the screen! Secondly, how long should a Quest take to acquire satellites? Mine seems to take ages, (minutes), whereas my old GPS V was really quick (normally just a few seconds).

First impressions of the Quest and I'm not that impressed :(

Quest answers....

Battery symbol will dance around all the time its plugged in and not switched on - its a screen saver. If you look at the dashboard screen (on the Quest NOT in the car!!!!!) the battery symbol will show its state of charge.
I personally don't wory about it as whenever you plug it in to power (battery or mains) it will top up.
Mine doesn't like it if you start moving before its aquired satallites but if you give it 30 secs. - 1 min. stationary its OK.

Enjoy it you'll soon learn to love it - I don't leave the house without mine now - even if I know where i'm going.
Cracking bit of kit and at the present prices unmissable.

Thanks, Sherpa. Any idea how long a full charge takes? I couldn't find anything in the instructions.
I must admit I did start moving almost straight away. I'll try leaving it stationary as you suggest.
It is a nice bit of kit, I guess I just have to get used to it :thumb

not sure

Without looking it up (I'm sure its there somewhere) 8 hours rings some bells. Just leave it on all night and unless youre using without power it'll never run out.

I find that the aquisition time on my quest can vary a lot dependant upon several things:
-Whether I'm starting from the same point I was at when I switched it off
-If I'm moving when I switch it on
-View of the sky (fairly obvious but I was in Liverpool city centre last night and it had a hell of a job 'locking on', presumably because of the buildings)
-If I've left it navigating or asked it to follow a route before aquisition.

All in all though its pretty quick :thumb

Just to make sure, you have folded the antenna out? It should preferably be horisontal.

Also at least the first three of the points Llama listed are of course affecting acquisition times, but that should be no different from your GPS V or any other unit.
