I've managed to get hold of a pile of original 120GS pannier 'spares' and want to mix and match up a good set. Trouble is getting the bits off that I need. Anybody any clue how to:
1. Remove the hinge pins (to separate the door from the sliding bit?)?:nenau
2. Remove the aluminium face without bending it?:nenau
3. Get hold of sub-assembly sub-components (as BMW only seem to sell bits of the panniers that start at £40)?:nenau

Any answers gratefully received. I'll be cheeky here and ask if anyone has a spare pair of right-hand expanding mechanisms they don't need please let me know.:augie

Make sure that the lids are of the same type as the boxes. I changed my Vario lid recently for a new one, they have remoulded part of the lid that makes it incompatible with the old one without the aid of a hacksaw.

As per Nicks comment, you have to drift the pins out, mine were stuck in really tight , damaged them on the way out, so would suggest having new pins available

Well, what can I say? Thanks, guys, helped me out.

As far as the link to the parts fiche - brilliant! I'm off to the States soon, and could take advantage of the 'cool' US prices (as in my experience the parts over here seem to be the same - but insert a £ sign instead of the $ sign - the number seems to stay the same!
