Alright - I give in. What am I doing wrong? I have a 2016 triple black and I cannot get it to change gear without using the clutch. I have tried full throttle, part throttle and even a closed throttle but it will not change. Mechanical sympathy prevents me from forcing the lever. It won't change up or down. I am trying to get it booked in for the fork problem (but there are no parts available apparently) and will ask that they look at it.

Erm... a silly question, but do you actually have GSAP fitted?

On my old bike the GSAP had to be reprogrammed 3 times in 3 years , when it was playing up it was unusable and the clutch had to be used to change gear.

On my new bike the one that HAS NOT got it fitted the gearchange is excellent and clutchless changes are easily done .

If GSAP is fitted it actually prevents clutchless changes being done (if it is playing up.)

Could be the software or the GSAP unit is faulty ie a duff microswitch

I'm suspecting you do have it fitted and it's not working. Even if you didn't have it you should easily be able to shift up to 4th and 5th for example, albeit not as smooth as it is with the shifter. Establish that you DO have it. If you have it's either not working or you're not applying enough pressure. If you haven't got it - get it - it's great

Just an idea. Not sure if its the same, but I had accidentally turned off the quickshifter function on my ktm. Exactly the same symptoms, its still possible to change gear clutchless on a standard bike (ie everything else I have ever owned) but there must be something that blocks this function on the ktm when the shifter is switched off in one of the sub menus and can only then change gear with the clutch.

My 15 bike came back from the 12,000 service not being able to use the GSAP to change up ,but ok changing down, it was fine before it went in. I took it in last Friday to have it sorted, and to have the hill start enabled, went to pick it up, and was told that they couldn't do the GSAP because there is a code that has to come from Germany and they will phone me in a week or two. I can smell BS , they are really short staffed, i.e. One in the workshop.

Best get to the dealer as mine on my 2016 is seamless from 2nd up . Even when down changing you should and can just drop down as fast as you want.
Once its working it great , adds a different dimension to the bike , especially on mountain roads with tight corners as it allows you to concentrate on brakes and throttle.
