R100S 1980 cable routing

Hi all,

A little help please. I’m just putting the R100 back together and can’t remember the route for the cable that comes from the main wiring harness to the instruments. It either goes under the bottom triple clamp or over the top. Can someone have a look at their bike and let me know please.

Looking at photos of them in images using the internet, it looks like it goes under and up into the headlight.

Not sure about that other one you have there that looks a bit tight.

Might me a one under one over thing.

Under would be more likely to avoid any sudden kinks? It's also how the equivalent section of harness is routed on my 100GS.

The tight one is the one I’m not sure about. I agree it looks to tight going underneath. I think it’s as per the first photo.

Hang on, I take your point. I was meaning the fat one but the other does indeed look pretty tight going underneath. Should it be routed through the A of the steering head gusset?

Won’t fit cos it’s got a multi plug.

The instrument harness passes under the lower yoke on the lhs then across the back of the headlamp.
I’ll take a look tomorrow

So did the harness on my 100GS but that's where it went! Needed the dexterity of a double jointed gynaecologist to get it through but I managed it!

Took a look at one of my bikes earlier Colin,
The 1st pic you posted is correct,
But the harness is pulled back a bit so it is snug up against the side of the headstock.
