I have just won an auction for this 1995 30k R1150GS (edit - I mean R1100GS) and I am due to be picking it up on Tuesday. More pics below.

I am quite confient it is a genuine clean bike, but I would be grateful for a checklist of things to inspect when I get there. What should I look out for?
My main concern is that the mileage is so low (Averaging ≈1.5k per year) that the bike will actually suffer for it. What might be the signs of that?
Many thanks in advance!

I would replace the brake flexible hoses if they are original, that bike probably has the earlier gearbox which you can read about in this section, it looks very nice indeed, I would buy that without hesitation :thumby:

Absolute brilliant bike I bought one two years ago from wick same mileage thought too good to be true only problem I had was cylinder head gasket went but when took the head off the the chain slider broke but easy fix thanks to step toe seen this on eBay what did you get it for these 1100 gs are bullet proof

Apart from the usual 'condition' checks that you'd do on any bike, the main thing on the pre '97 1100's is that the gearbox doesn't feel like it's skipping (for want of a better word) in second or third gear under hard acceleration. Unfortunately the only way to check for this is a test ride, which will depend on the seller allowing you. Don't listen to the fear mongers who will crop up and tell you that your bike is a time bomb due its gearbox, most of them don't have actual experience of a pre '97 bike and are just repeating Internet heresay. I have a '94 1100, so I'm allowed to say this :D

If the gearbox does have 'the problem', it's not the end of the world - it can be refurbished by a specialist such as Steptoe or Scriminger.

When I was looking for my 1100, I wrote a checklist to try and make sure I didn't get seduced by a bike and miss something. With hindsight, it's well over the top but I've copied it below for a laugh :)

That looks lovely. Buy it, ride it, enjoy it, it looks the dogs. A proper GS.
