ok matey... to save time for when the real experts come along.
is the bike standard UK spec with original exhaust. what year is it.
how many miles are you getting to the tank - aprox.
is the rear of the exhaust 'sooty/black'
how long has it been like this and if its come on recently has anything happened that might explain it.
there are various answers to your problem - but i dont think changing the CCP is it.
Heres a pic of the beige plug showing where you need to plug in your jumper, not sure about the pink flavour though, My bike appears to run richer with no CCP than with the beige one.

sorry lads should,ve explained a bit more.its a 1999 german import, link pipe, aftermarket can, lambda sensor i think its always been like it since i,ve owned it but because i only ride motorways when i check plugs there ok.but riding backroads for 15 mins there sooty?and bike feels a bit sluggishmotorways its great and i,m getting good mpg.fook it i may just leave it alone.at least i know NOT to take ccp out THANX STEWART H fooooking thing will run richer
My bike is also a german import. I had a lot of fuelling problems when I first bought it. These were cured after following the advice of Steptoe I removed the original german exhaust (with CAT) and unplugged the lamda completely removed it and its wiring from the loom. then fitted a unused original UK spec exhaust.
Bike has no CCP - nor fuelling problems now. I get approx 200 miles to the tank.
I'm not tempted to mess any further with the exhaust - I know full well how heavy it is but it seems to me that fitting an after market exhaust will do noting but open a can of worms.
