R1100GS day 2 problems.

Mark,

i'm pretty sure I've got an old but working starter from my 1150 GSA. I'm just on the South side of the Forth Road Bridge at Kirkliston.

I'll PM you my details.

If the old one isn't any good you can have the new-ish Nippon Denso starter off the bike - I'll use the 100GS :thumb :D :D

I'll be around all day on Thursday.

Bob.

Gerard - reluctant to hijack your thread, & kind offer to help a fellow rider - but, an old friend of mine left rural Gloucestershire some 20 or 25 years ago to work in Perth & live at a place called Inner Persie, north of Bridge of Cally. Reckon that must be a short distance from you ? Seem to recall it was off a driveway signed South Persie.
Regards,

Mark,

I have my spare starter sitting on the bench :thumb.

I could bring it up to you - but I'm waiting for a delivery, PM me your contact details and I'll get in touch as soon as I'm available. Pitlochry isn't far :augie.

I'll be in a car I'm afraid as the 1150 is in bits :blast.

Bob.

Hey Bob, I am in touch with Gerrard in Glenshee, who is currently dismantling his R1100 and bringing the starter motor over. So fingers crossed I will be on the road in a couple of hours. Thanks so much for the offer of help - but stand down for the moment.

stand down for the moment.

Rodger-Dodger.

Gerry will be able to sort you out - but if you need further help just call.

(According to the amazing tracking service, 'Andy' will deliver my goods between 13:11 and 14:11 today :D :D :D).

Best of luck.

Bob.

Sorted....happy chappy last seen an hour ago heading north to resume his hols..... don't know what made him think I would enjoy fine malt whisky, but I shall make an effort....

Mark..forgot to say when you lift the tank, make sure the throttle outer cables pop back into the throttle bodies...they can rest on the lip and make the bike run rough....if you haven't noticed by now....they're fine...have a good run.

Mods when you do my post as above can you delete the quote from the following post as well...ta.

I don't have the ability in this section of the forum but I've asked for posts 24 & 25 to be deleted as per your request Gerard :thumb2

Great to see people rallying round to help a new member - my faith in human nature has just been reaffirmed :thumb2

Really grateful to all of you who offered help and advice, and especially to the leg-endary Gerry.

Despite a slightly fraught 24 hours I was really buoyed by all your support, and my estimation of this bike which can be fixed by the side of the road has gone up after this.

Thanks again.

Oh and Gerry, don't drink it all at once!
