Right then I am after Ideas as to what is wrong.

R1100GS, 1999, just had the tank off and the back sub frame off, and replaced the clutch and clutch actuation parts.
I put it back together and it ran, drove to work (11 miles) and it was fine all be it the tick over was a bit high, went to come home and got about 2 miles before it stops.

Now the bike fires and reves without difficulty, however as soon as I put it in gear and try and pull away it just dies, almost like you are running out of fuel which is what I thought it might be to start with - it wasn't.

I have checked the fuel pipes, there is a full tank, both throttle cables are seated correctly.

I am looking for any advice as to where to look next? all suggestions gratefully received, even the piss taking ones as I have run out of ideas at the moment.

return to the tank? causing a vaccum/ fuel starvation under load? do they even have that as a set up? water/ shit in the tank floating blockage ?

I know of a bike which had exactly that symptom, turned to be a broken battery terminal:confused:...so perhaps check all the connections you disturbed.

Checked the tank electrical connector?

You can get similar issues with a blocked air intake, some twat has not stuffed something in the intake while you were at work have they?

Thanks for the suggestions so far, all welcome.

I hadn't thought of the the possible electrical fault but yes I have mucked about with all the electrical connections so that's a possibility.

Dont think its a tank problem, the tank is full and I mean FULL, and I have run it with the fuel cap open just to make sure it wasn't a breather issue. But I will double check

Bloody kids, taking things apart with no idea how to put them back together again:hide

Check the neutral light/gear indicator wotsit connection:thumb2

+1 for fuel starvation. You can rev it as normal while not riding it but as soon as the bike is under load, it stalls ;)

Dan.

the trouble with that is that if thats the problem then it normaly straight cuts out, it is more akin to fuel starvation but I cant for the life of me work out why?

and yes I did have bolts left over but thats because I replaced a few with nice shiny new stainless ones.

Remove the fuel injectors one at a time from the throttle body side, pointing the output end away from your face, and turn on your ignition system to observe the dispersal pattern.

You could try and start the engine and then wind on the twist grip to see if each injector's output changes similarly. This should tell you if each injector is functioning and whether they are getting more throughput with the increased demand that your twistgrip should be requesting.

It could also be a weak spark so check the input wiring to your coils is fully connected. A poor connection here will reduce signal transfer as the frequency increases.
