I rode the KTM950SM and geez......3rd gear wheelies from winding open the throttle!!
I liked it so much that i am thinking about getting some some of set up using the 950SE and get SM wheels to suit instead of the 950adv and a 450exc.....i wont do it til i have done my touring tho!!
Slightly off topic, but what's the 950sm like after the wheelies etc have worn off, went in today to have a look (none left) and they are waiting on the next orders to arrive from Austria. Hopefully going back in a few weeks to try a demo, and a 660sm too, but a bit worried about the seat height again. 3rd gear wheelies would be good (again) or just knowing its capable more like
Cheers, Paul
Hmmm.....depends upon what you want it for.I quite liked it but after about 80 odd miles i would be had enough i think.
Build quality is great and the engine feels solid and powerful but them brakes are something else altogether!!
I wouldn't touch the 660sm though.......vibrator alert!!
If you have time, try calling Redline and asking for a demo.....they're usually ok(always ok with me).Redline is in Loughborough so make sure you get the right one and not the Sileby shop(old shop cos they moved!!).
I fitted a set of 17" alloy wheels this weekend to my 4 year old GSA. So far impressions are good, it certainly steers a bit quicker and the motorway cruising comfort is unaffected. I can even get both feet flat on the floor now. I have always run with Tourances on the spoked wheels and have found them to be really good but the front on these came with a good BT020 so I fitted the same to the back. They seem nice and sticky.
Downside - must adjust the headlights and its really difficult to get on the centre stand with a full tank of petrol.
I got mine off Ebay, from Motorworks. I found them really helpful and mine bolted straight in with no problems at all.

As an addendum to the 'downside' of the wheels, having just done my 75 mile trip home from work on A roads rather than motorway it lifts much more in the corners if you apply the front brake. I know I shouldn't be doing that but the original wheels/suspension setup is very forgiving and after 50,000 miles I have got very used to what the bike lets me do - including front braking in corners. With the 17 inch wheel up front it really tries to straighten the bike up. Gave me a helluva shock the 1st time I did it.
I was at Garmisch a couple of years ago and saw this absolute beauty. 1100S back end, it really looked the business. Sorry I haven't got a better picture.
