So I have play in my balljoint, is there a guide to replacement for these on this site (I have trawled through the search thingy with no luck so far).
As my bike is used for work everyday I need to sort it out quickly & would like to know how hard/time taken for this job. It would pain me to have the BMW dealership do it as I prefer to keep things DIY & save money due to our wedding/money depleation event soon.

I have posted a wanted ad for the whole fork yoke with balljoint so I can just undo Telelever link & slide forks out to replace it quickly. So if anyone has a spare yoke & ball joint that would be one option. Otherwise I will have to go & get a rther large spanner by the looks of it.

Anyhelp or advice welcome,
Shane

How many miles has the bike done.?
Are you sure the ball-joint is tightened up enough.
They dont normally give problems.

Bikes now on 30,000 ish miles but I think the ball joint was damaged when the bike was involved in the previous owners little off. The same time the handlbars got bent & the fuel tank slightly modified. BMW dealership has confirmed the ball joint has play.
Might have found a seconhand fork brace with balljoint anyway, will see later.

As a temporary fix, undo the locknut and turn the pin through ninety degrees. The wear only happens in one place.

Balls joint

Make sure the nut holding it on has not come a bit loose, this need s to ve very tight and locktighted as well, after repairs to my 1150 this bcame loose during some extreme off roading, only 'cos we left out the locktight.
