I have found a few threads on here, but most are old so on thought it best to post the question again.
What's everyone's opinion on the best tyre for an r1150gs?
I predominantly use the bikeon the road, but do take it off road occasionally.
Probably 90% road to be honest.
I use the bike all year round so good wet weather grip would be good thing lol.

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest any of the new Adventure bike styled rubber, I don`t think any of the new stuff is bad it just depends on what name you want on the sidewall ;) I`d probably got for a pair of Tourance NEXT`s next :D or Anakee 3`s :blast

I recently got some Michelin Annakee 2's put on my 1150GS and I have to say I think they are brilliant. They are great on road whether its wet or dry. And i took the bike out to salisbury plain for a bit of greenlaning yesterday and they done surprisingly well there as well. You'll have to make your own mind up at the end of the day as their will probably be a lot of different responses to a question like this. What have you got on at the moment?

At the moment the bike has trail wings fitted but these are rubbish.
I have had tourances in the past...... But wanted to try something new, so thought I'd see what the majority of people on here use.

Asking what are the best tyres is a bit like asking what is the best TV prog on TV.

Sorry, but it's true :comfort

But I can go with what the majority use..... Besides who better to ask than people with the same bike as me?

I had trailwings f

Aw fuck ..... Ive just knocked the friggin glass over

Eventually every true that exists in r1150GS size will be recommended.

I doubt if you will out-ride the original Tourances, on an 1150 - to be honest.

You'll like the longevity of them too..............

Go on - be a maverick!

Anything this side of a block of ice will improve on your current tyres

Normally I'd say tyres are generally all good and most of peoples preference is all in the mind, in the case of death wings I can catagorically state that they are shit. The only tyre to scare me regularly. Bit the bullet and binned them with 50% of the tread left on em. Survivable in the dry, unbelievably crap in the wet.

Original and best Tourances for road, TKC if you wanna green lane, simple:thumb2

How does cost and vfm come into this for you?
Just fitted trail attacks to my 850, well impressed so far, especially as they were only £140ish for the pair.
I'd stay clear of the Avons, mine were falling apart barely half worn. Second avon I'd had trouble with.

You'll pay more for anything new, design wise, and they're not always better in the ways we want, the EXP's for example!!

I've got std Tourances on my 1150, which are as good as they've always been whenever I've had them in the past. Although I've had one of those crack up prematurely, hence trying the Trail Attacks this time on the 850.

Ive got the trail attacks on my 1100. Ive tried the tourances on my 1150 and the anakees on the 1200 and I have to say I think the trail attacks are the best. Cannot comment on wear life yet....

Dont. Ignore the k60 scout they are a good compromise between the tkc80 and the tourance.. they do work in the wet and will be better for off road.. plus they look good too.

I have just put Conti -trail attacks on my 1200 very happy with them! and I was with the last set too!
The tyre man told me he sells more Tourances by far than anything else for BMW GS's so you cant go wrong with either!
What name floats your boat ?

Tyring

Afrter 100,000 Tourance is the way to go.
