R1150GS : MY2001 vs MY2002.....

Hi folks, I am still on the market for the "Iron" GS... and I have found a few I am "filtering" these days...
Could some of you tell me what differences (if any) there are between a late 2001 model and a 2002 model ?

I'd say no major differences, as I believe the big upgrade (good for some, bad for others...) came with the twin spark model.

servo late 2002. I think the way to recognise this is there is a warning light on the dash with 'brakes' upon it.

.....I forgot to mention....NO ABS on either bikes, therefore I believe SERVO is directly "linked" to ABS bikes and so it does not apply in this case

My 1150GS is a 2002 model which has EVO brakes (BMW not BEMBO printed on the calipers) and can be both ABS and non ABS versions. This was a transitional stage before they brought in the servo brakes on the 2003 model.

At present I am having braided hoses put on my GS....caused great confusion at Goodridge who insisted that a non servo ABS GS with EVO brakes DID NOT EXIST!

The bike is still a single spark. The only other difference I can remember is a larger GS transfer on the tank (which I had changed before deliver because I didn't it). Was possibly also the first year of the Graphite colour scheme although I am not sure about this.

I quote on the graphite color scheme (from 2002 onward) but I believe the larger "tank stickers" are already present on late 2001 model......anyone can confirm this ?

I believe the model year runs from September to September(?), so a 2002 model with the larger stickers etc would appear in September 2001.

My 2002 model was ordered in October, built in early December and put on the road in January 2002.

Mine's a "52" with servo breaks and ABS

Being a '52', it was registered on or after 1 Sept 02 and is probably therefore an 03 model.

My 02 model was built in Dec 01 and first registered in Jan 02 on a 51 plate.

Here is mine shortly after I bought it a few years back (when it was still stock) Its birthday is March 2002 (they do things differently here in Switzerland). As you can see, graphite colour and large GS stickers. It has EVO brakes with ABS and no servo. A terrific steed that has stood up to three of my careless Swiss winters now.
