R1150GS ... they still have "it", don't they?

Oring on QD connection 🙈

90 second fix if you have the parts

Now have spares in toolbox
Thanks Johnny you’ve made up my mind for me, I was going to fit QD’s to my newly acquired 1100gs but I will now stick with the fixed lines and a couple of simple hose clamps in the tool roll, far less to go wrong. Enjoy the rest of the trip on that beaut 👍

Don't be afraid of the mileage.

I recall years ago Ride magazine got Vines in Guildford to strip and inspect a 100,000 mile boxer and all they found was some slight scuffing to a cam lobe. The article said it could be reassembled and do the same mileage again no worry.

Absolutely nothing wrong with good quality quick disconnects!
They actually make life a LOT easier. You don’t need to empty the tank to remove it.
Put a smear of the correct grease on the seal every time you uncouple and they’ll last for years.
Plus, how much room does a couple of spare new seals take up?

What grease do you use?

I have my MOT tomorrow and the poor old garage queen has not been out for at least 10 months so I thought I’d better take it for a run. Especially as it’s dry. :D
I chucked my Windburner, cup and some water in the top box and headed up the hills. :thumb2

I tell you what, you forget how easy they are to ride. :thumb2 For such a big old lump the handling is superb.
It just burbles along almost effortless.

The re-emergence of this thread has prompted me to get the banana out of hibernation and check when it’s MOT is due- just under a month. I was checking how many miles it had done since its last MOT- a grand total of 6 miles. And 400 in the year before that. I feel ashamed.

It’s been out of the garage, had a good wash and it looks in far better condition than my 2006 1200adv. Fired up on the button as well but needs a new tank of fuel.

Only problem is re-arranging the garage if I need to get it out- 1200 out first, then the banana. I have a Multistrada V4 in the way too.

I love all of them equally as they tickle different things. But…..

If I had to keep one and one only, it would be the banana.

The 850 was a much rarer beast, especially over here. I think I have only ever seen one 'in the flesh'.
Not over there but here’s another. Had this since 09, at one point I also had an 1150 but kept this one, and a late TC 1200 but again kept this one. Currently dead with a snapped clutch lever gearbox end since Feb last year. New stainless steel arm waiting patiently for my attention. Getting rather crusty these days but can’t see me selling it, brilliant winter bike. Got two Supertenere’s now for the rest of the year.
Isn’t the yellow n silver one in the big group pic from 04 also an 850. Didn’t think that scheme was available on an 1100 on a W reg was it?

Had mine from new although now pretty much retired. She still polishes up well and has pretty much no corrosion at all. I should really sell her I guess.

I’ve got one of those Remus end cans but it’s got a couple of dents / marks on it.
I put it on once but didn’t like the noise so it’s sat on a shelf in the garage for about 15 years.
