Afternoon

Just had the seat swapped back to the single piece version but wanted to check it is correct.... there seems a very large gap at the tank end and it seems to fit higher at the rear ?

Pics might help

Thanks

Simon

It's correct, they are all like that. I had the same concern when I swapped from dual to single seat.

Looks wrong to me? :nenau
I’m pretty sure the rubber strip on the tank should touch the underside of the seat to stop water running over the top of it and down the sides instead.
Probably completely wrong. :D

Looks wrong to me to… I’ve sold mine now but it fitted to the tank and flat at the rear

Definitely wrong, looks like it needs a good push forward to seat the bobbins.

Thanks for all the help ... it is definately too big a gap - mine is a good inch if not more

The last pictures of bikes show it ...... I nipped to the garage that did the swap to look at the GS they used to get all the bits right and that seat fits like the silver one above.

I checked the mounts etc and all looked exactly like mine with no extra bit anywhere. TBH the GSA mounts as now are far less fiddly than the 2 part seat that came off so there doesn't seem to be anywhere to go wrong.

I'm going to take the bike up tomorrow to see if it could be a "misformed" seat ? and try the one on the other bike on mine. The seat hadn't been fitted for probably a decade

Watch this space

Thanks again

Simon

If the plastic seat base has deformed while the seat has been stored, maybe in a hot attic, it's an easy enough fix using a hot air gun and some pressure

So .... braved the rain and nipped to the garage

First 2 pics are the other seat fitted to my bike ... no tilt up at the back and a very small gap to the front

Second 2 pics are my seat and TBH they don't show how bad it is

Also the front sides on mine are splayed out to give a massive gap which I hadn't noticed before - I'm pretty certain its how it has been stored for years

I've tried bolining water but it needs the heat gun - however I'm going to pick up another seat before tackling ..... just in case !!

So if anyone has one for sale drop me a message

Cheers

Simon
