Going to view an 02 model at the weekend. Steptoe has already removed the ABS. Any other issues I should look out for?

Cheers.

From my experience, I'd have to say fork seals weeping. Mine had a slow weep and fork stanchions were a bit out, so got new stanchions and seals. I am now going for my 3rd set of seals from motorworks for an unknown reasons. Installed by 3 different specialists so its not me bodging it! Only thing could be is that they need to be OEM. As for that, never been stranded or failed to start and stop in 3 years now. Bike stands outside all year and has been left without charge (3 weeks one one occasion)
No different to a 1150gs as same motor. Had a new clutch at 35k too but that was me being prepared rather than necessary

Cheers..thanks for the advice.

come to think of it, be prepared to re insulate parts of the wiring loom as the old rubber perishes quite easily, but standard auto tape soon neatens this up and loose off any tight cable ties. I am also going to replace my starter motor at next service but thats after 20 years and 50k...

Had a '03 R1150R from new to 120.000km in 4 years.

Only major issue was a short in the wiring loom. The cable ties around the front frame can be too tight.
Fuel connectors (there was a recall).
Replaced rear drive bearings at about 70/80.000km.

No other problems. Did about 90.000km with the original clutch. Replaced it "just to be on the safe side", and still had plenty of like in it.

i had a rockster a few years ago (same engine) ,i had to replace a few coil sticks ,rear bearing and oil seal .
hydraulic clutch slave cyclinder give up letting clutch fluid go down the push rod onto the clutch.

Check the looms around the headstock. BMW tied them too tightly and you can get the inner part of the wires breaking because they bend too much over time.

If it's been through Steptoes yard it's probably alright though.
