Has anyone had their GS backfire when throttling off? Even after a couple of trips to BMW Motorad (required new throttle potentiometer), it still occasionally sounds like a bloody gun going off which whilst quite amusing when pedestrians jump out their skins, I'd rather it didn't. Fuel consumption seems to be fine by the way.

What exhaust set-up are you running.

Sounds like not airtight.

Standard exhaust with a Y-piece. There was a small hole in it which was repaired (apparently)

Hmmm - I'd have a very close look at it - joints, seams and body - and look for leaks.

I’ve always found that a y piece and standard can combo produces amazingly loud backfires – literally like a shotgun going off. It must be caused by an air leak of some kind but I’ve never managed to cure it – I just switched to a Remus can which totally sorted the problem:)

Loads of people on here report the same problem so you’re not alone. Live with it, go back to the cat or get a can.

Good luck.
