R12 G/S Enduro

In no way kn

In no way knocking the new BMW which I like the look of but surely the best comparison price wise would be the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE - Pre reg one here for £12.5K

The BMW is certainly an expensive bike for what it is!
Got it in one
The G/S is a nice looking bike (not seen one in the flesh yet, for complete judgement)
But the triumph is also similar for cheaper

If you spec the bike to a similar level to the BMW there is not a big difference in price , £12.5K is the base model

Exactly. Fancy paint job and heated grips alone up it to nearly £14k. Does it have rider modes, etc ?

New R12 thread and took a few pages for the brand haters, PCP experts and let’s look at other bikes to start chirping in lol.

Not everyone buys on PCP some of us still buy outright and I certainly didn’t pay anything like £18.8K - I didn’t go for the option 719 spec

I never implied you did, John.
A white R12 GS with heated grips, cruise control and TFT display is £16k. A 1300GS TE with similar spec is over £20k. A Triumph Tiger 900 Rally is £15k. A equivalent Duke more expensive. It’s not cheap but not outrageous either. What do you think is a fair price ?

Genius-compare the 12 G/S to the 1300GS to show its better value !
And where did you get a Tiger Rally from ? Nobody is going to decide if he wants a 12G/S or a Tiger 900 Rally as they are totally different , the latter coming fully loaded as standard with heated seats and grips etc .
As Paul points out below, a Scrambler 1200 would be a direct comparison and the 1200 X starts at £11895.
No idea what equivalent Duke means .

Not sure that is correct - higher spec 1200XE with long travel suspension with cruise as standard in Black with added heated grips:

My previous example was the 1200XE with more expensive Baja Orange paint job for £12,500 pre reg (about what I paid for mine a year ago also on a pre reg deal).

At the end of the day we all have different likes/dislikes and I personally really dislike the Scrambler but love the R12

I've ridden it quite a bit now and find it comfortable and ideally suited to what I want , for other it may not be right but for me it is
I think the 12 G/S looks fantastic , especially in the white /red/blue.
I liked the look of the Turban so much that I bought one without trying , which was a mistake as it turned out to have the worst suspension of any bike I've owned.
My point was simply that prices have gone mad, driven by PCP.
It’s not just BMW but many seem to ‘buy’ BMWs using PCP, of which the contract conveniently runs out the same time as the warranty-so matey ups his monthly payment and ‘upgrades’ to the latest and er……greatest.
My fully loaded new car cost less that a 1300GSA FFS.

Enjoy the bike , John. 👍🏻

No argument with that - had a R9T Scrambler for several years and loved it until I changed it for my 1200 XE which I personally really rate.

Each to their own and enjoy the G/S (y)

1200 XE comes with rider modes and cruise as standard - heated grips are extra

The discussion progressed to VFM so not unexpectedly a comparison was made with similar bikes in the market :blast

I’ve had a couple of test rides on the R12G/S and really like it. I thought the price was a bit fruity until I put what I paid for my original RnineT back in 2015 into the Bank of England inflation calculator, it came out as £16k. With the spec I’d want, the G/S is almost exactly that, so not so bad after all. Still can’t afford one though!

But is that comparison a fair like for like? I wouldn’t say your example was, but we’re all different.

I had the same thought. My R9t Scrambler X was north of 14k - 8 years ago.

I’ve had a Scrambler 1200 XC two years ago, currently have the R12 G/S (just did the running in service yesterday). They’re comparable in theory, in reality I think the BMW is a much better bike, whether you want off road or on road. It feels like it has more depth, I can likely see myself keeping the R12 forever.

Scrambler looks cool great and the OEM exhaust sound is one of the best, but I did not enjoy the driving experience. I’d have one as an armament, if funds allowed ;)

Look forward to more mile on my bike, dreaming of a trip down to Alps one day, off motorways of course.
