R12 G/S Enduro

Love the end bit.

“ The word of the end customer is often unreliable, these are people who do something else in their life, and I think this is understandable."

Cheeky buggers.

You don’t have to be an engineer to know when something hasn’t been de burred properly before being anodised plated or painted.

I had similar issue with a vending machine manufacturer.
I took a photo of me peeling a carrot 🥕on a very sharp stainless steel cup station.

Thanks for heads up re Unit garage. I also will not be using them for anything. I’ve used SW Motec and evotech in the past both with good quality products that fit correctly and are well finished.

Well , Unit Garages customer service is less than helpful and I’ll certainly not be buying from them again

Here is their reply to the issue of the sharp edges on the rack plate :

What can I tell you? From the photos I see everything seems ok to me...
Without having the bike here and without photos that clearly show the problems, I have no way to answer.
We have 15,000 product combinations, and sometimes there can be problems, but as has happened in the past, we are always available to help.
We CANNOT replace or provide warranty for products without clear photos that clearly show the problems, so you must ALWAYS help me understand exactly what the problems are.

The price charged too🙈
I’d send it back for a full refund ….out of principle

If it wasn’t for the fact that I’m off on a two week tour of Europe on the bike in a few weeks time and therefore need the luggage rack I would have sent it back

It’s made even worse by the fact that I had to wait nearly 6 weeks after paying in full to get the parts as they had “supply issues”

I’m still waiting for delivery of the pannier rails which are now promised for end of next week . Let’s see if they turn up and what the quality of those are …..

That is a shocking reply. What sort of arsehole writes shit like that? Massive and unforgivable bellendery. 🙄

UPS have just delivered the pannier rails from Unit Garage , I’m working away from home and not back until Saturday so feedback on their quality and fitment will have to wait a while . Nippy Norman’s also delivered the spacer kit from Wunderlich so I can fit the crash bars alongside the OEM cylinder head covers , took a month to get them as apparently they had an issue with Customs ? As they say things come in threes and BMW just rang to say my Enduro Fairing was now available from Germany and I should be able to collect it early next week

I’ll post some pictures and feedback on the parts once they are on the bike

Was able to finish the auxiliary light and GPS install yesterday after trying different positions for the auxiliary lights. I decided a fork mount kit was the best for me in this situation. I’m happy with the placement but I’m thinking about dropping the lights about 5 inches. This would require combining the hardware of two clamp sets with a minor amount of milling. I also took the opportunity to connect the GPS to the exCAN since BMW connected ride was hooked up to the GPS plug.( not a big fan of the BMW, connect ride.)

Here are a few pics of the finished job.

IMHO they ruin the lines of a lovely bike . Do you need so much light ? Perhaps you’re going to do some of those all night ‘races’ in which case it’s totally understandable.

Awww. Look at you with your little “In my humble opinion”. Isn’t that precious?
What part of “ was best for me in this situation” was confusing to you?

Here’s where I mounted the GPS. Is that wrong also?IMG_8842.jpeg

Cool project. Are the lights on a separate switch or come on with the bike lights?

Wonder if there are plug and play options out there for a single big yellow spotlight mounted on the crash bar, a bit retro like!

Thanks for the question. Can can operate your auxiliary lights with the wonder wheel if you have a HEX ezCAN. If not, a remote switch is probably necessary. There’s no specific plug on the bike that allows you the ease of plug and play. If you don’t have a wonder wheel , something like a thunder box would be a good option. I’ve seen several bikes with a nice size spot on one of the engine guards and it does look retro and nicely done.

Crikey, there are some touchy fuckers on here today.
It’s your bike . Fit whatever you like to it .

Your statement of ‘was best for me in this situation’ was related to the placement of the lights.Doesnt actually explain why you need so much illumination. Is the standard light that poor ?

Starting your post with an IMHO often forebodes a priggish comment.
Thank you for clarifying that. It is my bike and I will do it with it what I wish.
So if I’d have just said the spots ruin the lines of the bike , you would got the hump, so politely adding IMHO has same reaction .
Would it be possible for you to actually say why you’ve fitted the spots, as I may well look at one of these 12 G/Ss in the future .
Are the OE lights not much cop ? Ta

Maybe you could have lead with “ That’s interesting.
Is the Oem light not enough? Why those particular lights ?” and left out the “Me no like your lights”.
Slapping an IMHO on ,does not give someone a pass on denigration.
Why does anybody do anything? I fitted them because I wanted to fit them on there. But if you need an explanations , here you go.
A. We have heap Big wildlife around these parts ranging anywhere from a cute little squirrel to big fluffy bears. Throw in a few stray cows and horses, and you have a lively ride.
2. Our roads around here are quite fast and sometimes narrow by our standards. Mix that with point A. and you have a spicy combo.
And last, but not least
D. To quote the immortal Mr. T “ I do what I want fool!”
As a matter of fact I have raced at night around this world.
Wow look at me, a dirty dock worker giving lessons in etiquette.

All this aside, let's be friends. I’m sure we share similar tastes in other things.

You still didn’t say what the standard lights are like 🤔

I’ll assume they’re adequate but you need more in your situation, which makes sense . But thanks for the explanation, kind of 😜

There is a chap on a GS whom I encounter on my way to work, every fcking morning he comes 6 spots lights blazing blinding the opposite traffic. A royal c-nt. B3349....IT'S A JUNGLE! One day he will end up on a bonnet.
