In conjunction with GS John and A.N Other of this parish, I am undertaking a sponsored 100 Mile Iron Butt for the British Legion. I am using Just giving for the sponsorship; https://www.justgiving.com/Ian-Ransom

The question is, would I raise more money running a sweep stake on how far the bike will get before I contact BMW breakdown :nenau :D:D:D

All joking aside, if you have a couple of quid floating please feel free to sponsor John or I.

Ian Don't you mean a 1000 miles ?? :aidan Even a 1200 should manage 100 miles :D

I sometimes wonder from what I've read here. What with fuel pump controllers, advice about comfort seats,... the list is endless. Perhaps leave the bike at home and do a sponsored pub crawl instead?:beerjug:

Must admit, only had five and 60000 plus miles on them with only one mechanical breakdown so your right I should worry:pullface

I won't tempt fate so until yesterday my 1200 has:
  • Working FPC
  • Working fuel strip
  • Rear wheel bearings with correct free play
  • Brakes that work
  • Gears that work
  • Clutch that works
  • Acceptable comfort from GSA and GS seat
It did have a phase of stalling for no apparent reason but after removing coils and low speed stepper motors ts not done it again. I did put them back. ;-)

There is some corrosion under the uber tuff paint but it's an 08 with 40K miles and was used all last winter.

And major panic the side light bulb failed.

Mines an 06 GSA and like bendy says I ride as often as I can and there's nothing wrong with her apart from a slight final drive weep, and I'd be willing to ride her from here in the uk to OZ tomorrow if I had the spare cash, and I know she'd do her hardest to get me there trouble free...

Will put in what I can as I'm poor.
