Just returned from a 5,300 mile tour of Europe and felt I should counter some of the reliability fears. I was as worried as anyone:

We got as far as Brasov in Romania and came back up through Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy etc etc.

3 x 1200GSs altogether and we suffered: 1 blown dip beam, 1 sticky speedo needle, 1 ejecting top box, 2 punctures, 1 screen screw disappearance.

BMW panniers seemed immune to punishment.

Tyre repaired by Romanian yoof at 17:30 on a Sunday in the middle of nowhere got replaced yesterday.

And damnit they don't half go (1200GSs , not Romanian yoofs).

So just get out there and ride them.

 :thumb :clap :bounce1 :bow

PS: Had intended to post a travelogue but cannot be '@rsed.

Hi Chris,

looks like you had a good time out beyond the Forest:thumb

Was the top of the Trans Fagarasian open? Stuning piece of road what?

This is how it looked a couple of months before you got there (at the end of June!)

Are you coming to the party at the Stags in a few weeks?

Can't wait to hear about the trip.

Ooh, interesting bash plate. Is it any good? Expensive?

It's actually very good, as I recall it was just under £100 from Touratech last Christmas.
Did you notice, I also had the Touratech crash bars fitted?
Did you notice, the damaged bit was between the crashbars and the bashplate?
Bugger! :doh

Oh yeah - Some of us had tripe soup on the south side! Beautiful, mad, sexy, scary land - must go back....and must meet to drink to excess with you, Gav and the crew again. Unfortunately not on the 22nd as have previous appointment in a railway siding in Keighley on the same date.

Regards,

Chris "The un-steady"

PS Thanks for the all the hints and advice.

No worries mate. Glad you enjoyed my/our current favorite part of the world. If you are heading back next year we will have to meet up for a few beers and a bit of an explore :thumb
