R1200GSA LC v Jaguar XF

Not bothered what he was riding, so no fishing from me...............you should know me well enough by now................:D

I see so much crap riding, it boils my piss

We're all fallible, so vulnerable ................ that's the real point

Still, If I get slated for my POV, so be it................

As a rider meeting him coming towards me................I dread to think of the outcome

We had a similar incident up here a few years ago, 2 sportsbikes head-on, only one rider was the innocent party and he stayed on his own carriageway, both dead though
Granted but you don't know why the rider was on the wrong side of the road and without knowing why you still apportion blame.

Has the UKGSer accident investigation team been informed? I hope the sandwich makers are on standby, popcorn for dessert?
:popcorn

There maybe a delayed response on the investigation team Mr Bear has taken to baking his own bread :blast

To assume.

To make an ASS
out of U
and ME.

Usual shite postings from the same old crew............................

I assume he was on the wrong side of the road because he just rode round a Jag driver on the wrong side of the road going in the opposite direction.

Nasty. The rider was already wrong side of double white lines, always baffled when I see that kind of road position without good reason.
Hope he is okay anyway.

'Without good reason'

Perhaps he did have good reason, perhaps he didn't. We may never know!?!?

But at least JB gives us all a standard to aspire to . . . . .

Only smoke, took the wheel off the car that was some impact for sure. I hope he's making some sort of recovery.

what ever happened to slow in fast out ? looks like its been changed to fast in ..oh shit !!!

just hope the rider and the driver are ok..

Thanks for the condescending quote.

Do you really think its an aspiration to be on your own side of the road, on a blind corner, with double white lines? Surely not.

I agree, a bit of a timely reminder to us all if any was needed just how vulnerable we are on a bike

Indeed, I've been riding for 24 years and made a numpty error the other day. I was on a highway doing 100kph and looked down at the dash for a split second and when I looked there was a van in my face. The traffic had slowed down in front of me and it all happened very quickly plus I was a bit tired from all day riding.

Got myself together and braked, head checked then swerved...I guess that was the "experience" part kicking in. I was quite angry at myself for letting it happen in the first place though.

The markings on the road say it's a 40mph limit. I think the biker may have been going a little bit faster than that to fail to negotiate the bend given the road conditions. Jag driver was below the limit.

Tight Bend, speed warnings on the road and maker poles at the side, double whites, damp surfaces, hazard poles at the side…..all signs of a dangerous stretch…..

just watched it again pausing as i went ..the bike comes into view at 5 seconds..and even then he is well over on the off side. At 6 seconds he is "staring" at the car approaching, even at the point of impact his vision is fixed on it, pause and see how he turns his head to the right to see where he will hit it.

Crazy riding …..As debatable as these videos come they are an education to all of us

He hit the jag hard enough to set off the driver and passenger airbag. Anyone clock what impacts the screen at 13s?

A few thoughts.

It is not a sharp bend
He was not over the line as he entered the bend
There was significant surface water clearly seen from the cars perspective but maybe not from the other way.
Apparent speed is exaggerated by the camera view
Combined speed of the 2 vehicles makes it look fast - impact speed of at least 70mph thus triggering airbags etc..
The surface water mentioned already upset the stability of the bike

It is easy to be judgemental but we do not know all the facts and maybe should not be so quick to make judgements.

That said, too many drivers (4 & 2 wheels)round here seem unable to negotiate a right hand bend without crossing the centre line....

I am sure that we have all done something like that :)
