R1300 Bmw luggage

42Ltr with the Givi adapter rack all partly paid for by BMW .

Impressive - I got the Givi adaptor plate (as shown by Leadfarmer a while ago) just in case the BMW top box failed to appear.
New bike day is Tomorrow ,
so now need a Givi box - of course, there’s no sign of any BMW box. .
Let’s see what BMW may say tomorrow

Not that I have a 1300….still on my trusty TC so my comments ARE tinged with more than a hint of green eyed envy. I was in Ocean Plymouth on Tuesday talking to the parts guy.

He had a set of various there. I couldn’t believe the weight compared to my aly ones.

Just been speaking by DM with a guy from BMWMotorrad U.K. Apparently they are leaving any offers of assistance totally in the hands of your dealer because the contact for supplying your bike and luggage is between BMWMotorrad and the dealer. BMWMotorrad U.K. are having nothing to do with it, so if you get anything from the dealer it is off his own bat. It will be contractually correct, but not very good for relations between MotorradUK and the dealers they rely upon.

It's amazing how many different stories you hear, because I'd ordered all the luggage but then it couldn't be supplied BMW were giving £350 as a goodwill gesture not the dealer?

My dealer is offering soft luggage and does not know anything about the £350 “sweetner”. Frustrating.

Think the soft luggage offer is the same as the £350 sweetener. Just been in touch with my dealer, and he is saying that they still have no firm date, but it’s slipped to late April, possibly into May now. Think I’ll be looking for an alternative supplier.

Well, bit the bullet, cancelled the BMW Varios, and ordered a SHAD expandable top box and a pair of their new expandable panniers. My local SHAD dealer will fit them all for me as well which is a bonus. Given that I tend to use inner bags when away not too bothered about the loss of the interior light, can manage to carry one key for the luggage instead of central locking, and can charge my iPad in my hotel. Panniers expected to be released for delivery in U.K. on 23rd April.

Wonder if I’m the only one who finds it strange that the dealer has SHAD luggage on their demo. Doesn’t bode well to me. Glad to read they look good thought. Thanks.

The Shad 3P mounts also work with their non-expandable panniers. I’ve still got a pair which I used on my XR, so will just use these when if/when I buy a 1300

Whilst the Shad boxes look nice I paid extra via BMW to have the luggage racks fitted for the various so seems senseless to remove and pay more for another fixing kit
