R1300 GS vs. R1250 GS comparison

Well, now that you come to mention it. 20 years and 5 GS later, I dropped mine, for the first time ever on the road, turning into the MOT station last year.

I've always been on my tip-toes as it is and my legs aren't getting any stronger.
Daytona M Star boots are your friend, well they were mine anyway ;)

Much too wide enough if you have a low volume foot. I tried to buy a pair of Trans Open years ago. They were all like boats on me. I have Sidi shaped feet and Sidi Adventure boots.

I’m loving my 1300 so far.
I did have a 1250 for three years, then made a daft choice and traded it in.
The bike I thought I wanted was crap….. so had to go.
The 1300 is my return to a gs ( had loads, from a 100gs in 1991 for 5 years) …. 1200, 1200gsa ( too heavy really, and I didn’t need the extra tank range) 1200, 1150gsa x 2…. Big heavy tanks, but good fun really….another 1200 1250, then this 1300.
I don’t need a gsa, and don’t want one. I didn’t like the 1250 gsa looks, don’t need the range, and didn’t want the weight.
Had a few different makes , models etc in between gs’ but returned to what I like and what suits my riding

Every rider is different.
So one bike may suit one person, but not the next.

I’m happy with my choice…. It may not be for everyone, but I don’t care on others thoughts/opinions.

Ride what makes you happy, agree to disagree.

I started with an NSU......my GS1300 is at the dealers

I once had the Jellymould RT and had to take it to BMW HQ for some work and they gave me an 1150 GS to play on.....instant Karma.....why do I have a Jellymould?

Which one, a Quickly or 50 😁? I brush painted my 50 in Yamaha Yellow and Black and pretended I could keep up with my mates whilst I did an extra paper round to save up for my FS1-E

I've just got back from a back to back Euro tour and a trip to Scotland so have done about 4400 miles in the last 18 years (5600 in total) and I'm kinda torn when it comes to comparing them. I've had 2 1250GSA's and now the 1300 and my gut says if you offered me my 1250 back I'd take it, but when I start trying to explain why I end up contradicting myself.

I'm not a massive fan of the engine whine on the 1300 but it's "ok", but the engine braking can be really abrupt and snatchy when going between partial throttle to rolling off, to coming back on. Doesn't seem to matter what mode you are in and it's not configurable either. I found the 1250 smoother but I guess the 1300 is aimed at trying to pinch people who said the GS was slow and sluggish compared to the 1290 etc.

I find the standard seat nowhere near as comfy as the 1250, but at same time my friend pointed out to me that I got back from being away on it for 3 weeks then the following morning went straight to Scotland on it so it can't of been that uncomfy and he makes a good point.

I definitely don't find the gearbox/quickshifter any slicker than the 1250, at times it's more clunky in my opinion.

All that said, it's never missed a beat and didn't fail me once (which you'd expect) and I thoroughly loved thrashing it around the Dalvene Pass on Sat.
