This is a photo of an R1300GS Adventure taken from under the drive shaft housing looking towards the diff. On the inner side closest to the wheel you can see a wet patch whether oil / grease to the left of the rubber ripple.

Is this normal? I was told when the bike is hot grease can seep out of the bearing and road grime sticks to it. Is it something to worry about?

the picture is more like a water colour by a drunk...

could be anything -

the pinion seal should not leak
the drive shaft shouldn't throw grease about from its UJ bearings
the brake fluid is meant to be inside the caliper

if they over did the gunk around the splines and or the gaiter at service that might explain some build up
it could also be the owner spraying products about trying to make today's materials and budget coatings last longer than the 6 miles from new, the manu design it with
or it could be sweat / condense weeping out and looking like a leak

never forget its 2026, and its not 1980 Japanese standards - stuff no longer lasts, nor is it remotely expected too. Today vehicles have a 3 years life expectancy - lease it and bin it - Buy a modern bike park in your garage, clean and keep it dry, service more than the manual states, try and love it - you'll still have many issues and huge costs repairing things - If you look at your costs at 8 years of trying to keep it performing the way it did when <2 years old vehicles are not economically viable

Maybe you need a happy pill! 😁

My 7 year old 1250GS, with nearly 40,000 miles looked brand new and didn't let me down, apart from a battery. All year use. I live the wrong side of a salt water, tidal causeway. All kept mint with ACF50 and monthly washes. I only swapped because I stressed about European tours without warranty. Was a great bike and converted me to modern BMWs.

Thank you for the comments - The photo was taken by me from a paused video! It's with the BMW dealer now being looked at as its almost new with 3000 miles. I won't say any more as its unfair to the dealer as they are genuinely trying to sort it. I only asked in case this was a @thing@ that the R1300GSA's are known to have and its normal or not, as the case may be.

Sorry about the watercolour Botus I promise to drink less and switch to colouring in!
